Yeah - don't get me wrong, it's a fun movie to go and piss all over when you're there =)

Ha! I'm totally expecting to annoy Andy as I laugh at all the wrong moments.  I can't help but expect this to suck.

Kevin Pereira (or however you spell it) really pissed me off when he pulled a 180 on this movie just because some hot blonde showed up on set.  Two weeks ago, he said "Why do comic fans waste money on going to a comic adaption they KNOW will BLOW."  He is talking about Fantastic 4 here - then one of the supporting cast members comes on, all flirty n' shit, and he's all "GO OUT AND SEE IT."

Boo.

Anyway, I'm expecting to catch this on DVD like we did the last one.  Gah, I can't stand suffering through really silly dialogue just to get to good action sequences.  But maybe I should lighten up, I don't know.

I had braced myself against the diologue, so it didn't hurt as much as it might have. I just with Evans could adopt a couple more facial expressions and tones.

Every time I think of Galactus, I always picture the moon with a huge chunk of it bitten out and the letters "CHA" on it.

And guess which episode is being left off the second season Tick DVD for "legal reasons"?  :grr:

What?? I love that episode

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

Sideswipe

The Tick flying around in Galactus Omnipitus's shoe as his janitor is hilarious

Did anyone else think of Star Trek's Doomsday machine when they saw Galactus?

AAArrgh! Again? How can Disney, who blatantly ripped off the Fantastic Four for The Incredibles (a film I love, btw) and got away with it, suddenly get cold feet about a Galactus parody? Marvel's been in need of a proper legal smackdown ever since the "Marvelman" business back in the 80's; why is Disney, one of the most litigious companies on Earth, backing down?

God I hated that movie. A movie that is billed as a children's movie should not be about explosions and large-scale death. Frankly, a lot of the stuff that Disney puts out that managed to secure a G rating shouldn't have - but that movie was especially bad about it.

I don't want to have to explain to my 4 year old why the man that fell down isn't getting back up again. "General Audiences" is supposed to mean just that, not "Disney put pressure on us so we gave it a 'G' rating even though it's actually pretty violent."

Mmm... I'm feeling rant-y today. :)

The Incredibles is rated PG.

Which stands for... ?

Maybe next time, a little less ranting, and a little more time paying attention to what your kids are watching might be called for.

Yeah because that's never worked in the past....*ahem*star wars

Bambi/Lion King were much harsher than anything I can remember from the Incredibles, who died in it? a couple of random other super-heroes on video screens, I don't remember any "large-scale" death scenes...not like they blew up a planet/space-station or anything...

The Incredibles is rated PG.

Not in Canada it wasn't (well two provinces gave it a PG but the majority rated it G). And in most other countries it had an equivalent of G (U in the UK for example).

Ah, but in Nova Scotia, where ossuary's profile says he's located, it WAS rated PG.

Perhaps he didn't watch it in his home province.

I hate Disney SO much. They've done so many things over the years to piss me off. And now this. That's my favorite Tick episode!!!!

In addition to the video sequences showing some of the superheroes, there were also numerous "henchmen" deaths during the fighting scenes on the island (and I think in the city scenes as well, can't remember, this was a few years ago). Some were by explosions, others were by the cutting weapons (though granted, it was not actually shown on-screen, it was obvious that it was a death). All in all, I just didn't find the level of violence tasteful or necessary, especially in a kid's movie.

I disliked the Lion King for the same reason, and if I had had a child when it came out, I definitely wouldn't have taken them to see it. I find that a great number of Disney movies go way too far in their efforts to pull at your heartstrings and get an emotional reaction. It can potentially make for a stronger story, but it can also be somewhat traumatizing to a younger child who hasn't been exposed to that sort of thing yet.

And to gbeenie, before you make assumptions and call my parenting skills into question, perhaps you should take a little more time to find out the situation before you turn on your flamethrower. Ratings in Canada are the responsibility of each individual province, not the federal government or some biased private group like the MPAA. So firstly, we saw the Incredibles when we lived in B.C. (which, if you check, you will see gave the movie a "G" rating along with all but 2 of the provinces...). Secondly, up until the Incredibles came out, Pixar had never put out a movie with anything NEAR that level of violence, so we had no reason to doubt the G rating or be concerned about it. We were all excited to see the new Pixar film, so we went to see it on opening day. Normally, we rigorously review online feedback about movies before we let our daughter see them... but since it was Pixar and was given a G rating, we went to see it. I hardly see what you feel could justify an attack on my abilities and judgement as a parent based on my single statement from earlier.

Another issue I have with the whole Disney movie thing is that, despite the fact that we have different ratings in each province, Disney only ever releases one commercial for the entire country (even though all they would need to do would be to change one piece of text on the screen). Despite the fact that they got a PG rating in the entire U.S., they were all too eager to praise up the fact that it was rated G in most of Canada, even though some provinces DID rate it PG. We rarely take our daughter to see any Disney movies anymore because of all the problems with the movies, and the poor practices of their marketing... and unfortunately because of the Incredibles we had to add Pixar to our "no-go" list as well.

The reality is that there are not very many mainstream movies that are really appropriate for kids under 5 or 6, despite the kids movie makers trying to make their movies appealing to the younger kids as well. I don't particularly have a problem with the movies being more geared towards the older kids, I'm just saying that they shouldn't try to pass those stronger contended movies off as appropriate for all audiences when they clearly are not.
