Why stop the status quo?

I agree with Road_Element on this one.

Let's leave political discussions to the other boards.

I frequent a DVD review website's discussion boards, and all the political rants drive me away, even though there's a special forum set aside for non-DVD stuff.

Let's keep it pure. We don't want to tarnish our beloved MST3K/Rifftrax!!!

Sorry guys, I wasn't trying to be political.  All I wanted to do was respond to someone else who brought up Bush.  Here was his comment.

I'm guessing it had to do something with "president" bush.
I tried to be neutral but it is really hard to do so.  I stated something that I thought was common knowledge.  Sorry, it won't happen again. :-[

Now, can we all just forget about this and get on with something more important?

why start now?

In August 2001, after six months where I wasn't watching much television, and I was ranting about what I saw, when I did watch it, to my friend, I told him, "You know, there's no law that says I have to have cable...".   That month, I disconnected my equipment and brought it back to my local cable provider's office.   I went to the window and I told them I wanted to cancel my cable.  I was asked why I wanted to cancel, and I told the person behind the counter the following, after clearing my throat (for dramatic effect):

"Television has disappointed me for the very last time."

The person behind the counter agreed with me and said, "Yeah, I know, there aren't even any wholesome shows on anymore."  I then said, "Wholesome??  There aren't really many GOOD shows on anymore!".  Except for a blip on the screen in September/October of 2003 (a span of a month-- I thought I'd give it a try, and I did find one good show, "Carnivale"), I have not had any broadcast television in my home-- no cable or or channels 2 to 13.  I think it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  I will never go back.  I am one of those who does rent and buy TV shows on DVD, and I have nearly every single episode of MST3K, including the KTMA shows, on DVD, and lots of other movies, too.  So I have plenty to watch and, well, I have lots of books to read, and the internet provides things to watch.... I do just fine without it, thank you very much.

One of the funniest things I heard, when I would tell people I didn't have any broadcast television, was this question: "So how do you get your news?"  This was a serious question.  I think that says a lot.

It was probably "Lost." He probably saw the episode with the polar bear and swore off TV when they never resolved that.

They pretty much did with season 2, just wasn't told to you by some character talking about it.

i dont know how you can have a tv and not have 'broadcast' television, unless you live in the boonies.  but seriously, bad call on your part.  you're missing out on LOST...

actually, to be an anal, nitpicker (note the comma, I am anal and a nitpicker, not a picker of anal nits...that's just gross)
they really went more towards explaining it in the 3rd season opener. The cages? Looks like they have/had a little zoo there. Explains the shark also. They are/were part of some sort of Noah's Ark experiment is the newest plausible theory. Sorry for the interruption. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.
Grapes? I hate grapes, I can't stand grapes. I loathe grapes. All kinds of grapes. I hate green grapes and I hate purple grapes. I hate grapes with seeds, I hate grapes without seeds. I hate them peeled and nonpeeled. I hate them in bunches, one at a time and in small groups of twos and threes.

oh yeah, and Bush isn't a conservative by any stretch so that doesn't exactly mean Mike is a Bush fan.

Maybe he saw that they canceled Arrested Development and was so anguished that he couldn't even bear to watch any TV anymore.
