i listened to that interview w/ Mike on that NJ radio show.  in the interview Mike says he doesn't allow tv in his household cos he saw something alarming/uncooth on television one day while he was working out.  i speculated and these were the four that came to my immediate mind.

also,  i was perplexed when Mike says he can't take slasher movies, wouldn't want to do them cos of family values, etc. but on the front of the rifftrax page there is that poll for horror movies...  thought that was weird.

The movies on the polls have little to do with what movie gets picked by the mods own admissions.

I had Mike pegged as a "no slasher movie" guy in another thread.  I just can't see making jokes at gruesome things (well other than Tor Johnson).

Thats really weird because i remember Mike being on "VH1's Movie Rules" and that was about nothing but slasher movies. So he must have watched some Slasher movies. Not that i blame for not liking them. I cant stand slasher movies and dosnt have any to do with my religion.

I was speaking about the possibility of Mike riffing slasher movies. Which is thankfully a no-go.

I think he saw a clock. That's what was alarming.

(If I were a robot, I'd get my arm ripped off for that.)

a pretty girl is like

oh waitasecond, there are no stories on any television news outlets on the genocide in Darfur.

What could it have been?  The answer eludes me.

I'm guessing it had to do something with "president" bush.
Mike has stated that he votes Republican so I don't think that this theory holds up unless it was something anti-Bush that he saw.

Who knows? There's so much crap on the idiot box these days; I sympathize with Mike on his decision - if I had kids, I wouldn't own a TV set, either. There's too much stupidity in the real world for kids to become engrossed in the stupidity on television.

As for the comment earlier that Mike votes Republican - I'm politically centered, and I don't really like Democrats all that much, but I can't really see anyone who isn't on some sort of mind-impairing substance voting for the guy currently in charge, especially in 2004. On the other hand, we had eight years under the leadership of an idiot like Bill Clinton, so maybe we're not experiencing anything new.

Though, really, if we're going to start a political discussion, how about an off-topic board? I'd hate to have the site clutter up with this kind of stuff.
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

Sure tv is full of nothing but crap. But i wouldnt throw away my tv. I would just buy a much of TV shows on DVD and just play those DVD off some kind of DVD Changer or maybe a HTPC.

seriously no politics here.  this is the one place i can go without a whole lot of rude people cluttering the boards.  politics is fun to debate, i love it, but not on a board, its just not effective.  IF you really want to debate i live in san antonio, ill meet anyone at a coffee shop and discuss anything.
