Considering the current pandemic situation forcing many to be at home, many people will be needing entertainment. And also, since RiffTrax is turning 15 in 2021, they should probably increase doing more "Just the Jokes" riffs on blockbusters and popular movies. I feel like they have been focusing too much on B-movie riffs in recent years, and therefore abandoning certain series to be incomplete. There should be more "Just the Jokes" riffs to bring in more customers who don't really have an interest in the B-movie side of things.

I suspect that the RiffTrax guys know that the demand isn't there for Just the Jokes releases. If there were, they would have released at least one in the last five years that wasn't tied to a Kickstarter (Ninja Turtles in 2015 was the last).

If the general public isn't buying just the jokes for some of the biggest releases of all time, I doubt they'll turn out for non-Marvel/Star Wars stuff.

Additionally, just the jokes releases require the same amount of work as a VOD, but cost 40% as much. So the same work for less return probably isn't a great incentive for the guys.

There are more Just-The-Jokes on the way this year. It was brought up a couple of months ago that they'd like to do more movies that JTJ releases for movies on streaming apps. I know one title for sure and it is not a recent blockbuster but is a warmly regarded ridiculous action movie from my teenage years - so they're looking at what is out there, not just new releases. (Next month's Patreon hangout will be themed to this movie, so stay tuned. :P )

For now it's just the one that I know for sure but they are talking about more.
Any issues with the RiffTrax main page should be directed to support@rifftrax.com Attempts to engage with me directly about such matters will result in ridicule.

This is some fantastic news. It's this kind of stuff that is the reason I signed up for the forum back in '06. Thanks for sharing the tidbit!

Trying to think what amazing title they could do and am realizing they've done a large, large portion of movies I've wanted them to do over the years. Checking out the RiffTrax Movie Requests top requests, I still would love to see Pacific Rim, NeverEnding Story, Labyrinth, The Power Rangers Movie, Species, Volcano, Dante's Peak, Deep Impact, Armageddon. My biggest request would be Twister. Ok, even more than that, the original King Kong vs. Godzilla. Howard the Duck would be an instant buy too.

While you are adding things to the list, please look at Darby O'Gill And The Little People. I really like that movie, but it would make for an amazing riff! Drunk people, Irish accents, SINGING BOND!

I'd like to throw in "The Specialist" with Stallone, Sharon Stone, and James Woods. A few friends of mine and I saw this at the theater and laughed out loud to the point of getting looks from the (small) crowd. It's just so self-important and ridiculous.

Checked back to see if this comment was referring to WW1984. Which it's not. Which means there are more JTJ on the horizon than just this one. YAY!!

If there's ever a time to release it, it should be this year.

But I wouldn't hold my breath. I mean, at least we got Red Dawn. ;)

There is a twitter poll up asking if people are willing to pay more for Just The Jokes MP3s:

https://twitter.com/RiffTrax/status/1378086181951336450

So far about 75% say yes.  Honestly I would have no issues paying $7.99-$9.99 for a track.

I don't know about $10, but $7-8 is OK. They can probably get away with that better now because of the app and higher prevalence of streaming subscriptions. People like me who reauthor will have the added expense of DVDs, but it's worth it to get more blockbusters.
