I'm still looking forward to seeing this, even though I've already let Tripe down by fallin' behind in my reading  :(. Hopefully I would have caught up enough to have a well-read opinion by the time the movie comes out.
Dammit, Maverick! Why don't you play by the rules?!

"Joel, what's a Harringway?"
"About a pound."

Doctor Who?

Sorry but the trailer shows Holmes in bed with a hooker, that is not Holmes.  I would be fine with this movie if it didn't try to pass it's selve off as Sherlock Holmes when it is really James Bond.

Aaand we're back.

Screw RDJ and Receeding Hairline, this is the Holmes story that promises to be the most awesome version yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so buying that in January! That's so ginormously epic. A dragon, t-rex, and a giant octopus?!!!! So, so, so, so awesome.  Come on Asylum, spot us a trailer!

Was it Rachel McAdams or a different woman? Since Rachel is playing Irene Adler it would make a lot of sense.

I'm trying to come up with a sufficient verb to explain what my brain did when I saw this.  This may require more time.

And since I don't think I've said about the Guy Ritchie version: I'm agin (sic) it!

No it doesn't if you have ever read the books.  Holmes had no interest in sex or anything like it.  He kept the letter because she was one of the few people who ever outwited him.  One of the things that makes Homes interesting is that he doesn't act the way you would expect most people to act, this little thing makes me think that the film makers here really don't understand Holmes.

Actually I am reading the books, but I will agree with you now that Holmes probably wasn't in love with Irene (I just re-read Watson's opening paragraph in "Scandal in Bohemia" where he specifically states that). I retract my previous statement.

Mind you that's certainly the impression many have taken from her single appearance.

Where have you got to so far TG?

I've just finished Scandal in Bohemia. How about you?

I paused after I finished The Gloria Scott. I'll give you a moment to catch up :)

Go jot down your thought on Scandal in our thread. :)

BTW, took a look at the website for The Asylum (because someone mentioned they had a new release for the release of New Moon and was morbidly curious)....

Couldn't find anything like that but under "Coming soon"......Sherlock Holmes!!!

Something more to look forward to.   >:(

The Asylum's answer to this....

QuoteThe latest Mockbuster from The Asylum will be hot on the heels of the upcoming Sherlock Holmes film. Ben Snyder is Sherlock, Gareth David-Lloyd is Watson, and Dominic Keating from Enterprise is Spring-Heeled Jack. Oh, and the poster promises a Tyrannosaurus, a giant Kraken, and a flame-breathing dragon monster. Just like the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle YOU remember! The plot from the website: "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective faces the ultimate challenge when enormous monsters attack London."  I thought that was just going to be The Hound of the Baskervilles or something until I saw the poster.

"Reimagining"....it's a slippery slope....   :D
