EDIT- By the way... here's the real website for the film: Expelled

"Mud animated by lightning" - hilarious! This is a comedy, right?

I'll see it when it goes to video.

As an atheist I find it hard to understand the theory behind Intelligent Design simply because I am a rational person. And considering that I am returning to school to study biological anthropology, it makes the whole, "God made humans perfectly the first time around." a little hard to swallow.

I don't feel the need to disrespect anyone's personal beliefs and I try to be open minded when it comes to religion, although it's difficult when people of a certain religious bent believe that I am evil because I am an atheist, but it seems awfully odd that people don't look at evolution as a reasonable theory based upon the factual evidence that has been presented.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I respect that.  I just don't like being told that "GOD" is a truth when there is no solid evidence that he/she exists whereas evolution is a solid theory for our genetic make-up.

Remember, even gravity is a theory but everyone regards it as fact.  Also, humans share something like 60% of our genes with a banana so let's get over ourselves a bit.

Thank you ebeth. I now have a new great quote for people who are so arrogent about human's supposed "superiority" over everything else.

I'm definately not going to proclaim I have an edge in this debate, but as a Christian who holds a science degree, I maintain that there doesn't have to be an either/or situation regarding faith and rationality. If folks choose one over the other, that's their business and I'm sure it makes sense to them. I personally feel more balanced having both. Rational folks can have faith. Faithful folks can be rational. We're all the same people and we're all trying to answer the same questions in different ways. Science tells us how. Faith tells us why. Simple as that.

As for the movie, it looks interesting but like ebeth, I may wait to see it on video. This smells of a Michael Moore-esque piece, only from the opposite end of the scale.

I've always known I'm bananas and now I have scientific evidence.  But prior to gaining this knowledge, I've never felt the need to create an explanation to fill the void of understanding.     ;)

This "documentary" looks like a load of dogshite.

Damn.  And I really like Ben Stein, too. :(
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

My disdain for this film has nothing to do with spiritual belief or the absence thereof.  It has everything to do with lies and deception done in the name of one's beliefs in an attempt to disparage those who think differently.

Lying for Jesus?

To be honest, I actually think that Dawkins is being nice in this article.  Speaking as a theist, I find the mere notion of spreading such misleading propaganda and outright lies in the name of God to be utterly despicable.  What on Earth do they think gives them the right to bear false witness by lying about the way the universe really works?  Sadly, it's the only trick that some religious folk know (apart from "YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!" of course).

Yeah, read about this film just today, and I don't esp. trust it (it's coming outta Hollywood, right?).  But as a Christian, I'm glad someone at least is sticking up for the fact that we base our beliefs on honest, intelligent questions and answers, as much as anyone else.  So, in that light, please let's not fight about who believes what, but that just having intelligent debate is healthy.

Bueller?  Bueller?
