Actually it is in the trailer. It's on the website's "super trailer" and Ben Stein says it twice. Not the most resourceful person, are you?
I'm not sure how viewing a trailer makes me "resourceful" or not, Mr. Condescending Moderator, but I'm 99% sure I went to the site and clicked on the link to their "supertrailer" and watched it and did not hear anyone say "mud animated by lightning." The closest thing I noticed was the guy Ben interviewed saying something about crystals. I'm not calling you a big fat stupid liar or anything, I just wanted to actually know where you heard this so I could hear it as well.

Ben Stein believes that Evolution is a "theory". I believe that one day we will discover intelligent life on Earth. ::)
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

Well, technically anything prehistoric is just a theory.

Evolution, where species develop different traits within their specific species, is confirmed.  However, evolution taken to mean one species evolving into another, is just a guess.  Scientists have never found any "missing link."  Why not include intelligent design as another opinion?  It has nothing to do with church - all the theory says is that creative design implies a creator.  And don't believe there's not evidence for it.  You've never heard much of it because it's not taught.

The thing is they are not teaching it as "opinion" - they want it taught as science. Which it's not. And regarding the "missing link" theory - that's another creationist argument that is completely wrong. There isn't ONE "missing link" and it's not going to be a "half-man half-ape" creature. We didn't evolve from monkeys, we have a common ancestor. There is a world of difference. And believe it or not, there have been missing links discovered, but they are called "intermediaries." Two examples most recently found, or at least the best examples, have been tiktaalik and Eupodophis descouensi. You should read the articles, especially the last one - it's a pretty amazing discovery.

QuoteAnd don't believe there's not evidence for it.  You've never heard much of it because it's not taught.

It's not taught because it's not science. Just like there are no "alchemy" classes. The problem is that the pro-ID'ers want it taught in the same class and with the same credence as biology and chemistry. We can validate and predict the equations and theories found in the hard science classes; Intelligent Design shares none of those traits. Hence, not science.

I love the "No missing link" thing. It's so blatant, it's funny.
Whenever someone finds some fossils that seem to link two creatures, ID/Creationist folks just ask for a link between the new fossil and the old ones. The links just get narrower and narrower, with the creationists remaining unimpressed.

The thing the creationist don't understand (and Greg's video did a great job at this) is that Intelligent design is not a Scientific theory. It is an opinion. What is taught in schools is not just the opinion of some whack job scientists it is theory that has been tested with hard evidence.

The other thing that bothers me about teaching Intelligent design (other than the fact that it is an opinion) is that there is a separation between church and state for a reason, you open up a whole can of manure when you start discussing this in school. So who's God was it that created it all? A Christian god?

You look at the biggest proponents for ID and they are all MOSTLY Christian. I have a major problem with this not only because they feel like they are persecuted because ID isn't taught (lots of real religious persecution going on in the real world, wanna take a stand against that go to a country where Christians are being killed for being Christian don't give me this b.s. that not teaching ID is persecution) but also the fact that America is not made up of ONLY Christians yet most of them seem to think this.

List I went to Catholic school, and you know what? I had tons of science classes not ONCE was ID discussed in the Science class because it is NOT SCIENCE. We talked about Creation in the Religious Studies classes where it was supposed to be taught.

You know whats the funniest thing about all of this? Ben Stein isn't going to cause a Academic revolution just by people seeing this, no he is just going to make lots and lots of money. So go see this and give Ben Stein money!

Yeah, this is what I was getting at. Incredibly common misconception based on ignorance.
Darn.. And all this time..

That's one reason I refuse to see it.  I have no interest in lining the pockets of blantant liars.

How did I miss this?

Oh dear oh dear oh dear, science eduction is so very important, even speech writers for Nixon could benefit from a little remedial biology revision.

Did Christopher Hitchens make the final cut? He's been listed in the credits but not actually in any of the preview screenings.

GalvaTRION

Saw it. It was pretty good. Appreciate that it clearly delineated the difference between "creationist" and "intelligent design."
