Okay. I feel the need to step in briefly.

Calling someone Hitler doesn't make you any better than he is.

Second of all, Isaac - you are right some of the time. You are wrong some of the time. But I think the main issue here is that you believe everything you say is "the truth." This is the problem with opinions. We all think that what we know is truth, and in some cases, even despite overwhelming or majority of opinion - which by the way, doesn't necessarily make something right, either. (Look at arguments for / against religion).

I'm not being negative for the sake of being negative. I am simply speaking the truth. There is nothing I have said about Peter Jackson that doesn't reflect reality. Is it entirely impossible to look at Jackson as something less than perfect?

Now, the problem I see here, is that you're mixing up two types of arguments. I agree with you at the second part - it is possible to look at Jackson as less than perfect. But, it is wrong to say "I am simply speaking the truth" when you, in the next breath, will say that "I am only stating my opinions."

Opinions cannot be fact; by definition, that is impossible. The issue is that argumentation from personal experience will always create vast differences of opinion that can't be reconciled, even among groups who largely believe the same thing. This becomes especially harder when you start getting into the critique of a subjective medium like film - I've always had a problem with this in the sense that, sure the filmmaker(s) had their own vision, but not necessarily everyone is going to get the reaction they intended. Chalk it up to being "cinematically illiterate" or just "not liking that kind of movie." The point remains, it's still subjective.

Well, you do pretty much tell everyone to "fuck off" at some point in any given thread. It's just bound to happen.

Another thing, your arguments about Peter Jackson doing it for the money? All filmmakers, and I would argue that anyone in any media - music, paint, theater - do it for the money. They just happen to love what they do, or were lucky enough to make a living out of it. There's a reason why the phrase "the starving artist" was coined  - if every person creating art could sell their work to the thronging masses, I'm sure (most of them) would do it in a heartbeat. Not everyone can do art for the sake of creating art, unless they are comfortable in their situation and don't need to rely on just their art to buy themselves food, shelter, etc.

But this isn't a "Let's Bash Isaac" post, either. You guys do like to provoke him, and while I understand where everyone is coming from - "cite sources, man!" - I also think that Isaac doesn't deserve as much hell as you guys are giving him.

As long as I disagree completely and utterly with everything Isaac says, I know that I am sane, rational, living in the real world, and have good taste.

I mean, really? Pakky said it best, Isaac somehow brings out the kids in you guys. It's perfectly fine to disagree with him, but to degenerate into pure insults and namecalling? I thought you guys were above this stuff (googergeigers not withstanding).
