Don't expect "the Hobbit" for a while.
QuoteThe Tolkien Trust (a British charity that manages the estate of JRR Tolkien) and publisher HarperCollins brought a $150 million lawsuit against New Line Cinema on Monday. The claim says that the trust has not received any of its gross profit participation payments for the three films based on the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. The suit was filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court.

In addition to the $150 million in compensatory damages, the suit seeks punitive damages, and most important, a declaration from the court that the plaintiffs can terminate any further rights New Line may have to the Tolkien works under the agreements -- including "The Hobbit."

According to the suit - although the "Lord of the Rings" films produced by New Line are among the most financially successful films ever created, with worldwide gross receipts of nearly $6 billion - New Line has failed to pay the plaintiffs any portion of the gross profit participation to which they are entitled under their deal.

Bonnie Eskenazi, who represents the trust, said, "New Line has brought new meaning to the phrase 'creative accounting.' I cannot imagine how on earth New Line will argue to a jury that these films could gross literally billions of dollars, and yet the creator's heirs, who are entitled to a share of gross receipts, don't get a penny."

Doctor Who?

Well i did say i was sorry, and I only did it because i got mad from his name calling and swearing.

Also i removed the posts as soon as i cooled down.

All I want him to do is his he say Jackson is lieing in his lawsuit,to post the proof he has of that, instead every time I ask him to prove anything he say me and everyone else gets is him telling us to Fuck off or he calls us Assholes just for liking movies he doesn't like.

Again i am sorry for losing my temper but i have been having to deal with him for month and I lost it.

Sorry.

Chaos

Come on mods he keeps calling people names who are just trying to explain their point of view to him,ban him.

He ruins every thread with his stupid Fuck you Motherfucker garbage.

Okay. I feel the need to step in briefly.

Calling someone Hitler doesn't make you any better than he is.

Second of all, Isaac - you are right some of the time. You are wrong some of the time. But I think the main issue here is that you believe everything you say is "the truth." This is the problem with opinions. We all think that what we know is truth, and in some cases, even despite overwhelming or majority of opinion - which by the way, doesn't necessarily make something right, either. (Look at arguments for / against religion).

Now let's just sit back and wait for Isaac to tell Torgo to fuck off..... ;)

BTW Torgos, does this mean you're vetoing our right to produce that sitcom? :(

Yeah I read that "Tolkien Trust" report right after, it seems, that Del Toro was announced as being "in talks" - or letting it slip at the film festival overseas. I enjoyed Pan's Labyrinth so I trust his creative instinct.

Speaking of subtitles I just got District B13, a French film, looking forward to watching that tonight.

So yeah, Del Toro, The Hobbit. I think there's a ton of potential there...

Doctor Who?

Yeah I can't wait.

I just hope New Line pays up so we can get this movie before I die of old age.

As long as there's no "smashing someone's face in" scenes in the Hobbit I'll be fine. It was so unexpected I almost threw up.

Doctor Who?

I don't think they will be going for an R rating.

Still maybe on the director's cut DvD.

Pretty fun film. It's basically all about the acrobatics. You should enjoy it.

I concur, it has some great Parkour (one of the inventors of it is the main guy) and its a mindless action film, Im sure its the perfect film for you Torgos.

Yeah, if you liked the beginning of Casino Royale Torgo, you should like this.

I have mixed feeling about GdT directing The Hobbit.  The man has a lot of imagination, but he has a taste for the gruesome that I can't stand.  There were scenes in Hellboy that turned my stomach (Surgical Addiction) and I actually walked out of Pan's Labyrinth.

Maybe if he has someone to rein-in or edit out this worst excesses it could work.
