I'm gonna give Meet The Spartans a chance. I saw some funny stuff in the trailers, and if it does suck, well, I'll be going right in to see Rambo liquify some Burmese bad guys with anti-tank guns, so it will be all better.

40 Year old virgin was funny, Knocked Up and Superbad were almost a completely unfunny waste of time, tho.

Ah, the subjectivity of comedy! I didn't much care for Knocked Up, but I absolutely LOVED Superbad! Imagine that.

Not Another Teen Movie

More subjectivity. I loved that movie, and it was one of the better spoofs of the later years.

Not Another Teen Movie

I actually get really protective of that movie when people lump it in with the Scary Movies and Epic Movie and all those.  NOT THE SAME!  And I actually like it too, save for the shitting scene with the girl in the bathroom.  Other than that, I stand by it as a flick with its moments.  The rest of them can shut it.  (yes, this is coming from a girl who really loves the movie BASEketball.)

NATM is redeemed by the Janey's got a gun serenade.

Though I really like it in many other ways too but anyone criticising it has to be shown that scene. You can't hate the film that has that in it.

mlcorcoran

yeah that part, the Janey's got a gun part, was funny. and the slow-clap guy was funny.

but a movie with funny moments is like seeing a stand-up comedian with 1 or 2 funny jokes. if you're only being entertained for a moment or two, and the rest is crap, why bother?

i'm not going to shell out 10 bucks to see a movie in the theater just because it has some good moments. i don't have a problem watching something like Not Another Teen Movie when it's on Comedy Central, because I can watch the funny stuff and then change the channel.

i never saw BASEketball, but Team America was hilarious

Okay. I think I see what's going on here. Friedberg and Seltzer are demons from the depths of Hell's Pit and have made people delusional enough to not only put money into making their crappy films, but to think that there is anything funny at all in the trailers or the actual films themselves. ???

Doctor Who?

I'm sorry but i didn't see anything in the trailer that even made me smile.

It was like a really cheap episode of Robot Chicken,or a really Really bad episode of Family Guy.

Again who wants to pay $7-$10 and spend two to three hours with something that you can get for free on TV?!

Petey Wheatstraw

It's not two or three hours long...it is an ETERNITY of endlessly unfunny jokes that go nowhere. When you enter the theater you are being punished for your sins. These movies aren't movies. They're torture. You aren't entering a theatre. You are entering Hell itself.

Doctor Who?

Well that makes sense.

the only people have ever met who want to see this and who liked Epic Movie are not very nice people.

There is something about these movies that attracts bad people.

I don't believe there have ever been very many really quality comedies released per year, save a few freak exceptions. Most comedies these days are either vulgar (anything) or half drama (Lost in Translation). The great comedians don't really make great comedies anymore, so you get these weird little people who come from god knows where and have no vaudeville background, no SNL background, they just think they're funny for some reason. And some people agree. But the last movie Frank Oz made was about gay dead people and midgets, and was somehow British even though he isn't. Steve Martin and John Cleese don't write much anymore. And Chevy Chase has been dead since before his talk show. Former funny guys from SNL seem to go straight to terrible kids movies (Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers). And if you take any new comedy people like Steve Carell, well he did one allegedly funny movie (which was vulgar) and Little Miss Sunshine which was, yep, half drama. Mel Brooks has gone to Broadway and refuses to be funny anymore. I think Gene Wilder is in an asylum somewhere. A lot of comedians are dead. Jim Carrey is a serious actor now. And anyone that is really popular like Adam Sandler or Will Ferrell, half the world hates. And there was only ever one Kids in the Hall movie.

You can't win. But don't tell me comedy is just now dying. There's always crappy comedy, and there's rarely great comedy. And if there's one thing comedy is good for, it's making us forget how much everything else sucks.

40 Year Old Virgin was vulgar? I thought it was kinda sweet.  It could've been a LOT worse.  To each his own, I guess...

All right, this has been really bothering me. The TV spots for this turd show this last little gag with a Rambo semi-look-alike saying "Say hello to my little friend," and then moving to reveal a machine-gun-toting midget. Those hacks stole this fucking gag from Jane Austen's Mafia! What the hell? This unoriginal crap was produced by a major studio? What was Fox smoking when they greenlit this shit? >:(

I really liked Not Another Teen Movie. It did a great job of really nailing all of the different teen movie clichés. It has its low moments, but, overall, it's pretty hilarious -- especially if you're someone who has had the misfortune of sitting through numerous teen "movies" in the past.

I'm kind of embarassed to admit this, but I like Scary Movie 3. It's just kind of stupid fun. The situations are ridiculous and the characters are amusing. The parodies are pretty solid, as well. It's not an incredibly deep movie, but if you take it for what it's supposed to be, it's fun.

I did make the mistake of seeing Epic Movie in theaters and I'll have you know that it was the most depressingly unfunny movie I've ever seen. EVERY SINGLE JOKE was either crappy or ruined by drawing too much attention to a mildly chuckleworthy joke. Really. I counted only one or two jokes in the entire movie that was done atleast somewhat well.

...I didn't smile once during the entire movie...not even a little...

If people don't stop saying NATM is not a bad movie, I may wind up watching it!  :o

Scary Movie 3 was the Zucker brothers (did I get that name right?  The guys who did Airplane.).  You could enjoy the silliness more than the first two (The Wayans brothers... 'nuff said there).

I've heard on more than one occasion that Epic Movie was the worst movie they'd ever seen.  I can't imagine the pain.  Because if it's bad, then you can laugh at it.  But if it's a comedy, you're just trapped.
