Want a sequel? Well send some of your most unlikely characters to "the city". :^)

Just off the top of my head:
Homeward Bound
Babe
Short Circuit
Muppets
Predator
Jurassic Park
Beastmaster
Crocodile Dundee

  Home Alone 2.

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason takes Manhattan.

Gremlins

How about this one: Person in a position of significant power who "hates" titles or "formalities".

Underling: "So, Admiral Johnson..."
Johnson:   "Please, call me Bill.  I hate formalities."
CROW:  (Sinisterly) The Secret Government Eggo Project...
--Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie

"Jason, Chess is a game of chance."
-- My friend Shawn to my friend Jason upon being defeated at a game of Chess.

By the way, I'm pretty sure "City Sequels" wins this thread. Possibly the biggest cliche in movies.

-College students who obviously possess the mental capacity of brain-dead jellyfish, as they will wander into dark rooms to get naked and have sex with each other even though they are fully aware that there is a PSYCHOPATHIC KILLER ON THE LOOSE.  There's a very good chance that I am a wimp, but you couldn't get me out of my bathroom, let alone my underwear, with a machete-wielding headcase wandering around picking off my group of conveniently clichéd friends.

Sorry, nuveena. I WOULD disagree with you if we were talking about:

Basic math skills
Knowledge of American history
Standard English Grammar

But, as we're talking about the behavior of characters in shitty horror movies, I'm on your side: that's an area where the knowledge base of the average modern college student is extensive.
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere.
Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

Has anyone mentioned this one?

Little kids easily take out armies of supervillains.
This one happens all the flippin' time.... From Harry Potter, to Hook, to Three Ninjas and countless others

Little kids and/or comic relief

Star Wars Episode one... SHUDDER
You can't spell manslaughter without laughter.

Here's one I was thinking about just the other day:

Ending on a Kiss

Seriously, think back over all the movies you've seen in the last few years, and take a moment to consider how many of them have ended with a smooch.  I bet if you had statistics on every film in the history of cinema, you'd find the number that have ended in some variety of lip-lock is 75% or higher.

Funny enough, I've seen the alternative, (Kaiju films almost never have a single kiss in them,) and I'm willing to go with too much smooching than none.

-The obviously vacuous blonde woman with breasts the size of infants who somehow managed to get a degree in nuclear physics before she turned twenty-one.

Who then falls in love with Michael Douglas, Sean Connery or some other old fart who could be her grandfather....

Government divisions always employ people who are basically useless
Actually, after seeing some of the bush administration and FEMA, I've concluded the realism movement is to blame for this.

Why do I get the feeling you'd like this one more?

I don't want to ruin that emoticon's day, but I think she need's to see an oncologist A.S.A.P., as she looks like she's already succumbed to the worst part of malignant tumors: nipples shaped like crosshairs.

That would be one very creepy thing to see walking down the street. Just an observation.

Guess I over-estimated the appeal of boobs here.
