At theater, bored. Some reason no slide show/audio. First time this has happened here.  But, let us discuss this latest live show!

That was the hardest I've laughed in a long time, especially during the first short and the end when the ICB shows up.

I had a great time at the live show! Sidesplittingly funny, as always.

It's been a while since I've seen the original, but it seemed like a lot of the riffs for the Santa portions of the movie were the same from the Thumbelina version of SATICB.

Didn't they say something about Mike, Kevin and Bill all doing HURRR HURRR HURRR voices this time?

BathTub

They recorded them for the Kickstarter if that's what you mean.

Oh, okay. I misunderstood then.

So did anybody listen to them? Who had the best one?

Good, but not great. The first short was great (Pretzel Monkey???), but the second one failed to make an impression. I was surprised at the re-do of "Santa's Enchanted Village", but it was still enjoyable. Jack and the Beanstalk made Thumbelina look like Citizen Kane. Hrrr Hrrr Hrrrrrr!

MartyS (Gromit)

The beanstalk part of the movie didn't have as much insanity to riff on as Thumbelina but had it's moments.

Kind of funny hearing people doing the hurrrr hurrr hurrr in lobby and the parking lot after the show.

As bad as the Jack and the Beanstalk part of the movie was, the giant's singing was surprisingly enjoyable.

I had a good time at this show. Lots of funny jokes, if I had to pick a favorite, it might be the "IMAX Torgo" line from the Jack and the Beanstalk part of the main feature. It seemed like a lot of jokes were reused from the previous riffs of Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny and the Santa's Village short, but that didn't bother me too much since most of them probably can't be improved on too much.

It did irk me a bit during the first short that nobody commented on Santa Claus calling chimps monkeys when they're actually apes (something I tend to be a little anal about).

I actually liked his "Fe Fi Fo Thumb" singing too. It was sort of neat. But that insert was all sorts of bizarre.

That and humans descended from apes, not monkeys.

I actually loved it.  I suppose part of that is the crowd, but I couldn't stand the stream SC&ICB.  I only went because my dad had never seen a Rifftrax live show, and I was surprised that I laughed the whole way through.  A million times better than the Thumbelina version IMO.  I'm even gonna say it is one of my top three Live shows I've been too, topped only by Jack the Giant Killer.

I couldn't say what the "best line" was.  Probably laughed the hardest with the Pretzel Monkey(?) one with the look the little girl gives Santa like "what have you been smoking?" while he's just droning on about peace and love and monkeys or something.  The giant "falling" was hilarious too, I couldn't hear the jokes because people were laughing at how bad it was.

It is amazing how bad the Jack and the Beanstalk short was. It's padded to the gills with the whole Honest John crap, waaay too many songs. Yet when Jack brings the beans home the mother throws them out and the beanstalk grows IMMEDIATELY, and Jack is climbing it seconds later! And at the end Jack chops the beanstalk down (with a hilariously small ax) within seconds and the giant falls, and is declared dead! Why the hell would they so haphazardly rush through those parts of it, and yet we still have a subplot about a swindler (who really isn't a swindler apparently?) and his signs?

Yeah, but it was so bad it was good.  I was bored to tears with Thumbelina, but I was laughing anytime the giant was on screen.  I do agree Honest John was just godawful.  I just loved how the Giant would scream-talk in a southern accent and all of a sudden he'd break out into a wanna-be Pavarotti when he did the FeFiFo song.

I know, the shady car salesman bit got old real quick, and they just kept going back to it.

I wonder if Rifftrax cut some of the middle?  Like they did with Thumbleina (I wish they would release the long version that they streamed as a VOD...).
