Saw it last night, and it immediately took over Spiderman 2 as my favorite superhero movie ever.  RDJ was perfect, it was funny, the special effects were awesome, and I even liked Gwyneth.  I NEVER like Gwyneth.  Jeff Bridges did a great job too.  It was awesome.  I'm seeing it again tomorrow and I'll probably have something intelligent to say, but for now I'm stuck in awesome mode.  Awesome.

PS - Oh and this time, I'll actually stay through the credits.  I somehow didn't hear about the Nick Fury thing until after the movie when my brother called to tell me.

Edit #2: Electric Bugaloo

Crude

Is it just me, or did Tony Stark call one of his robots---Cambot?

I could swear that he did.

The movie was really pretty good, I thoroughly enjoyed it....but for me it lacked a solid villain.

A minor gripe I guess, especially considering I was having so much fun watching it...so it didn't ruin the movie for me, but I still noticed it.

Just saw it today and enjoyed it so much.  Right after the escape scene and first big action sequence, I yelled a big Fuck you to SpiderMan 3 and had the theatre agreeing with me.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

I'm so excited!

So far I'm being pretty good about avoiding the spoiler tags, but it's tempting.  I gotta say, for someone with an ass-load of DUI's, Robert Downy Jr. is an ironic pick for an arms dealer, haha :)

But the perfect choice for an alcoholic arms dealer, as Stark is.

Saw it last night and I must say, it is one of the better new release movies out there
like most movies today it was a bit long, but you don't notice, its that entertaining

This movie has it all

explosions
a bald Jeff Bridges
good comic base faithfully done
humor
a bald Jeff Bridges
a career saving performance by Robert Downey Jr.
cool tie-ins with other Marvel movies
a bald Jeff Bridges....

Seriously, there was very little not to like. This movie knocks it out of the park both as a summer blockbuster and as a good comic book movie. Sure there are a few liberties taken, but the characters are intact and that's what is most important to me. I'm not the kind to quibble about whether that scene matches up with the history from page 22 of issue 127 etc,,,, Just don't make the characters a bastardization and I'm happy overall.

Yeah, as I said in the "last movie" thread, the only thing I was a little disappointed about was the climax, where:

Iron Man owns Spider-Man 3, or any other Spider-Man for that matter.  Im looking forward to the sequel now that all the backstory is taken care of we can focus on Iron Man kick massive ammounts of ass

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

You and Ann are like twins :) Except i made her stay till the end which she didn't get but she loved seeing Iron Man.

I also liked Paltrow for once, even found her sort of cute which I never find her.

Loved the little shout out the War Machine who should be in the next film (as did somebody else in the audience who applauded when it was alluded to).

Just spectacular.

My favorite part of the film experience:

Yes her knowledge of Marvel begins and ends with the animated version of Tony Stark. :D

If I had a hat, I would tip it to you sir.

I am one of the enthusiastic masses. It delivered on every single level. Most Superhero movies mellow out when it's in non-superhero mode, but even when Iron Man wasn't being Iron Man, it was almost like a James Bond movie with intrigue and espionage. The movie kept me smiling for its duration. If it was long, I didn't notice it. I'll need to wait a couple days for it to sink in before I can tell if it really bested Spiderman 2 or X2, but right now it feels like it did. :^)

So who else thinks The Incredible Hulk is going to have a very similar stinger at the end?
