Oooo! That looks pretty awesome!

Oh snapple....that does look like it will have some good production value at least. And it's good casting  too! Robert Downy Jr. plays an alcoholic billionaire! I wonder how much acting he had to do for that role...

Has there been a comic book movie that has been good yet?
I'm not going to get my hopes up to high yet.

Batman Begins, Spider-Man 1and 2, X-Men 1 and 2, Unbreakable, Sin City, Hellboy, V for Vendetta and 300 all spring to mind.

Quite a bit. He had to pretend to have a billion dollars...   :)

Excellent examples. I would also add Ghost World and Road To Perdition. I think there's a tendency for people to only note the worst of the genre, when in fact there have been many comic-based films of superb quality.

Me, I'd cut that whole list down to Sin City, X Men 2, Ghost World, and half each from Road to Perdition and V for Vendetta. Then, I'd add History of Violence and American Splendor.

That said, X-Men 2 and kind of V for Vendetta are pretty much the best superhero comic book movies, and that's not really saying that much.

Yeah... i think that tendency comes from people thinking that "comic book = superhero."
Anyway, i'm looking forward to seeing Iron Man. And that image looks pretty cool. Although that doesn't really mean much, i guess~

I think equating comic books with superheroes is pretty reasonable, as long as you're willing to accept all the 'sequential art' and 'graphic novel' sorts of terms for other things. Action Comics #415 (to take one at random) has a lot more in common with pretty much everything in comic book history until at least Will Eisner, and maybe R. Crumb, than does Maus. It's not a quality thing, it's a storytelling thing- superhero comics are still serials in much the same way all comics used to be, and the only thing they have in common with Harvey Pekar kind of stuff is that they happen to be pictures telling a story. That isn't really saying much.

It was more the fact I didn't like Ghost World and haven't seen Road to Pedition.
