Fist of Fury! The 1972 Bruce Lee classic! Not to be confused with Fists of Fury, or Jackie Chan's New Fists of Fury, or Fist of Fury II starring Bruce Li (who himself is not to be confused with Bruce Lee). Oh and also, Fist of Fury is known by a couple other names, The Chinese Connection and The Iron Hand, don't let that confuse you either! Here's a good way to keep all these movies straight: this is the one where a guy named Bruce takes on a bunch of corrupt bad guys and kicks everyone's butt real good. There, that clears it up, right?

It's a good old-fashioned Hong Kong revenge story. Bruce's martial arts teacher is killed by members of a rival martial arts school (spoiler: Bruce roars "TEACHERRRR!" at the thundering heavens quite a bit when he hears about this) and, wouldn't you know it, decides to undertake a one-man mission of vengeance, pitting his Chinese school against their Japanese enemies. It's kinda like the "slobs vs. snobs" setup of Caddyshack, except with a lot less gopher dancing and a lot more deep ethnic animosity. Fun!

So tense your whole body, make some strange bird sounds, punch a guy to death while you're not even looking at him, and join Mike, Kevin and Bill for Fist of Fury!

FINE

Johnny Unusual

Was not expecting a Bruce Lee movie.  In fact, I was expecting a Bruce Li, Bruse Lee, or Dragon Li before an actual one.  Should be cool.

BathTub

Very cool! Might have to download this one from work, getting close to my data cap!

Love it! Bruce Lee. Looks like I have a lot to look forward to when I get a chance to catch up.

BathTub

Funny timing as I hadn't even heard of "No, you shut up" as reference5 in the Fist of Fury sample until yesterday.

He also has a TV show where he debates puppets from the Henson Workshop on political issues called NO, YOU SHUT UP!

I love this movie so the second I saw this on Rifftrax I bought it and it does not disappoint. Kevin does a gold finger joke in the beginning that had me laughing so hard I was crying. Unfortunately there was a definite missed riff opportunity during the notorious Bruce eats a cat straight of the spit scene, MKB kept referring to it as a squirrel but it is actually a cat.

Lemming Howard

Never saw a Bruce Lee movie so I see this as an opportunity to watch one but not necessarily on the movie's terms.  Same as Super Mario Bros.
And I'm worse than Hitler.

Incidentally, FWIW, I kind of liked the "It's Rifftrax!" intro/sting at the front of the Riff made for a nice introduction as opposed to just jumping right into things.  (Along the same likes I liked the official intro with M&TG talking bout the movie that was done before That Guy From Harlem, but I suspect doing that before each VOD would be a bit more complex.)

Binkles the Dumpster Clown

I was surprised we didn't get more about the nipple identification, or "nipplentification".
I think he should have checked all the female students for Japanese-ness!  :rimshot:
Binkles the Dumpster Clown demands a blood sacrifice by the next full moon!

I'm kind of surprised there wasn't more of a "What?!" reaction from the guys on that. Because that made no sense whatsoever unless I've missed some stereotype about Japanese people.

What scene are you guys talking about? The stripper scene?

No, there's a scene where Lee walks in on two men in a room, one of them a heavier set man who is shirtless. Lee looks at this man and the camera zooms in on his nipples. Lee, "So, you're Japanese?"  The guy then pulls the waistband of his pants up over is nipples to obscure them better.   Very odd scene that I just don't understand.

Darth Geek

It looked more like a bandage or brace or something than his underpants. But yeah, that scene made no sense.

Now that you mention it I recall being very confused by that scene. My assumption was there is some sort of stereo type, unknown to us westerners, possibly about nipple color.

Edit: After Googleing I found this strange forum on the topic http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/archive/index.php/t-200454.html, not sure it sheds any light on the subject though.

Edit part deux: I searched a little deeper and discovered this Japanese undergarment.

It's called a Haramaki, or belly warmer. Based on my search I only saw it used by women, usually pregnant. It is a Japanese garment that looks similar to the wrapping in the movie. I recall thinking it was a bandage in the movie, I'll have to que it up tonight and find out.
