So what have we learned from Starship Troopers?

My name is Douch-a Douche'.

That line won the night for me.

On Dizzy's funeral... I guess I assumed she was an "officer" or a decorated, noteworthy, person on some level so she gets the full funeral idea.  She wasn't cannon fodder like everyone else.  Also with her they happened to actually have a body, so...  It also could've been a much longer ceremony honoring others but, for our sake, we only got to see the part dealing with Dizzy.

Speaking of:

I learned that you should show more interest in the constantly bored by your presence dark-haired girl over the vivacious, hot for your penis, red-head.

Diz was rather stalker-ish. And I'm glad that the riffs really took that and ran with it. I think it's part of the misogynist attitude of the movie, since she died right after her life's goal of boning the bland leading man.

Well, it was directed by Verhoeven, so you'd expect that.  While she was dying she did say something like "it's OK because I got to have you".  I'm surprised there wasn't a riff about that, or maybe there was and I couldn't hear it.  I do remember the "want a kiss" riff around that time, that line is so familiar but I can't remember what movie it's from.

I learned that a society that has apparently developed nuclear devices that are simple and cheap enough for a soldier to use it as a standard issue weapon doesn't realize that they could just nuke the planets from space and save hundreds of thousands of lives and trillions of dollars.

Seriously, the nukes killed more bugs than any of the soldiers did. Why not just nuke the planet from orbit?

I learned that if I sleep with my superior I will get a funeral with full military honors.  (Face it folks.  That's why she got the special ceremony.)

I learned that if I can invent a gun that can kill a bug with one shot instead of hundreds this movie could have been 15 minutes long.

I learned that even though they've not been a meaningful threat to humanity, well, ever bugs can be quite a problem.  They also can breathe lava that'll instantly melt a human but won't damage themselves.  Wait... what?!

I learned that stepping on a cockroach is a lot like stepping on a packet of mayonnaise from Long John Silver.

This pissed my dad off so much. "DON'T THEY HAVE LASERS? OR NUKES? WHY ARE THEY LANDING ON THE PLANET IN THE FIRST PLACE??!"

I learned that being constantly smarmy makes Denise Richards really horny...but she'll forget about you and your sucked out brains pretty damn quick.

I bet that guy's brains was a lot like eating at McDonald's. It did the trick, but you didn't get much from it and you know you'll regret it later.

I've always wondered how to make Denise Richards horny... I guess now that I know, I'll have to give it a try!   :highfive:
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

The funniest part about that was when they actually SHOWED the nukes from the air approach being extremely effective, the smoke clears and we see the soldiers land.

I think the bad military tactics was part of the satire (such as how easily their ships are taken down because they are clustered together). Based on how a fascist and arrogant point of view wouldn't deviate from age old fighting techniques, regardless of if they apply anymore.

"What are you doing tonight?" Re: "Neve Campbell and Matt Dillon." Awesome.

I learned that the guy missed a lot more potential "vagina jokes" when the brain bug came around.  But maybe after bill got in trouble over his thigh-vagina joke... ;)
