That Santa Claus is pure magic. Would absolutely buy the VOD.

I've actually never seen the MST3k episode of Martians - it just feels odd to throw it on in the middle of July.

Did a search on the Canadian Cineplex iOS app and found a listing for Rifftrax Santa Clause Conquers the Martians.

Hasn't Santa Clause Conquers the Martins been riffed to death already? MST3K and Cinematic Titanic have done this already. I'd really like something new.
I'd like to see them riff something like Santa Clause: The Movie in a Live show.

That could be great but when they riff stuff that's already supposed to be funny it doesn't always workout. There is soooooo many cheesy x-mas movies out there that they could get the rights to cheap. One of the cheesy Hallmark or Lifetime x-mas movies would be endlessly entertaining.

Finally got my tickets. Stupid Fandango site.

I'm curious to see what they do with Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, honestly. The original MST3K one was never one of my favorites. I haven't seen the Cinematic Titanic version (though I want to). Though I will say that I'd love a new take on Santa Claus (the Mexican kids' movie), though I don't know how they could possibly improve on the original MST version. I still watch it every year around Christmastime.

I like that after this, Santa Clause Conquers the Martians will have been riffed by every MST3K-related riff troupe.

Well, my guess is that a Lifetime movie wouldn't have the same pull that Martians would. I'm not really surprised that they would go back to it if it was guaranteed to be a big seller.

Oh, looks like the show is already listed at my local theater - Thursday, December 5.

Santa Claus: The Movie isn't supposed to be an outright comedy, is it? Maybe it is, it's been years since I've seen it.

No, it wasn't supposed to be a comedy. It's from the writers/producers of Superman and they used the same story structure with the same level of campy flourishes. The difference is that Gene Hackman wasn't asked to play over-the-top campy, relegating that stuff to Ned Beatty. John Lithgow was, and it sinks the movie.

The first half of setup is not bad, it's got plenty of magic and wonder. But once they get to mid-80s New York, it becomes a trainwreck.

It really makes you appreciate the job Richard Donner and Tom Mankiewicz did on the Superman script, because that could have easily happened there, too.

I thought you meant the Tim Allen movie, my bad, not a comedy.

I actually like the Tim Allen movie Santa Clause. But ever since then I keep thinking that Claus should have an 'e' at the end. My bad.

If it is the one with Pia Zadora, that's okay. But I'd really love to see Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny on the big screen. People just don't believe me when I note that it's as bad as Manos. But they will learn. Oh yes. They will.

Darth Geek

Does anybody else realize that broadcasting movies like Manos: The Hands of Fate and Santa and The Ice Cream Bunny nationwide was basically Dr. Forrester's plan?

I think the guys made note of the irony of their self-inflicted situation back in the MST3K Episode Guide.

Does anybody know if there will be a meet & greet before the show on October 24th?  My girlfriend and I are driving all the way up from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and it will be a great disappointment if we don't get to meet them.  Plus, I have a P.G. Wodehouse collector's item I wanted to give to Mike...   :-\

Try sending Rifftrax an email, it's a small office and you might get an email back from them, I wouldn't be surprised of MKB themselves reply to emails from fans occasionally but at least someone in there office.

No, but it is incredibly riffable.  The first half-hour alone a horrifying nightmare of cheeriness, it seems to go on forever.
