I learned Evel was against drugs and alcoholism, accept when he drank himself.  He's also really pretty bad at making "Don't do drugs" to the point of almost using a frying pan and an egg to make his point.

I learned that drug distribution was a pretty complex and involved processes in the 1970s, apparently this was before they learned how swallow condoms or tape things to their colon.

"Crack cocaine?"
"Yes, I know."
"Well...."

Evel hates drugs, but likes his tequila!

What the hell were they talking about donkeys painted like zebras?! They kept going on about it, I have no idea what they are refering to.

I learned that Matthew McConaughey gave the eulogy at Evel Knievel's funeral. ???

I learned that I just can't take Leslie Nielson seriously.

Seeing Leslie in movies where he is the main hero guy will always make me look for humor

I learned that Evel is a staunch supporter of helmet safety -a very true fact in real life, he's often credited with being the best spokesperson helmet safety has ever had. Which, yeah, figures when your job consists of you crashing and you manage to survive each time- except when his best friend needs broken out of a mental hospital and then driven away.

I had to look that up and -according to Wikipedia, at least, so take it for what it is worth- it was "common" to paint black stripes on donkeys in TJ during the days of black and white photography so that the white animals would appear on the photo. (Otherwise being a washed out, white, ghostly figure on the resulting photograph on a typically sunny day.) I guess this tradition has continued to this day making the "Zonkies" something of a "tourist attraction."

i learned that evel can drive a motorcycle through a town all while endangering people and destroying property and not being arrested its a small town or something but still

Well, it's not like he took an aluminum baseball bat to it or anything.

Wait... Leslie Nielsen was the HERO in this movie.  Man, I watched this thing all wrong...

I learned two things:

1. Evel Knievel had access to every orphanage in America. A frightening prospect.

2. The 70s were a magical time when they'd make movies about anything tacky and tasteless: truckers, Disco, mechanical bull riders, Olivia Newton John, and pudgy losers on motorcycles who'll jump over anything.
Later,

"Well Mike, I guess it's just a magical land... I HATE MAGICAL LANDS!"

That's the underlying joke in the movie Airplane that fewer and fewer people get as time goes on.  You should have seen the look of surprise on a guy's face who I work with when I told him that Nielsen had many leading, serious roles in movies and TV shows before all the comedy roles.
And I'm worse than Hitler.

Even space robots are confused by Leslie now.
