Jump things over other things and tell us what you learned!

You know, I honestly have a pretty good amount of respect for Evel. But one thing I learned is that Evel will forgive and forget, unless it turns out you wrote an unfavorable article about him. Then he goes Gestapo on your ass.

I learned the pitch meeting must have gone like this:

Director: "So, the plot is, that drug dealers will set up an accident to kill Evel Knievel, thereby transporting his body back to America in a truck filled with drugs, of course Gene Kelly will have a son that he hates and Lauren Hutton will fall in love with Evel for no reason, then..."

Producer: ~sniffs more coke~: "sounds like a hit!"

I also learned that Evel Knievel was only 39 (!) when this movie came out.  Hell, Lauren Hutton was only five years younger then he was.

He looked like he was at least in his mid-fifties.

I learned that Evel has(d) the Brett Farve definition of "retirement."

Just started. Ladies, he's not wearing a denim leisure suit. That's genuine Ship 'n Shore triple-knit POLYESTER, BITCHES!!!!

Further in. Can we just eliminate Evel and have a charming soft-shoe routine with Red and Gene? And then have Lauren Hutton(resplendent in SALMON) sashay in as the Femme Fatale? Evel could have chilled in the trailer for this whole sequence!

Gene Kelly. Even in his 60s. DAT A$$!
WARNING: In case of Rapture, this dance belt will be unoccupied.

MSTeacher3K

I learned just how deep and disgraceful the level of shame a former Hollywood star can sink to.

Lembach

I learned Mexico is loco for stunt bikers in the 70s.

MSTeacher3K

But I think the most important lesson I learned from this movie is how incredibly far up his own butt Evel Knievel's head was, even though it was covered with thick, feathery hair.

(His head, that is. Not his butt.)

TriffRax

I learned that Starcrash wasn't the silliest film Marjoe Gortner appeared in during the seventies.

Bob

I learned the bright colored suits wore by sports announcers look just fiiiiiiine.

We should wear those to work nowadays.

amityisland

I learned that perhaps....perhaps....Xanadu was not the most embarrassing movie Gene Kelly was ever in.

Tony Farms AKA Puma Man

And it is great how even though Evel is playing himself, they completely gloss over the fact he's married with three kids just so he can have a phony love interest

I learned that the stunt driver was really bad at imitating Evel's prowess with a motorcycle... or maybe really good.

Alleged

When asked if you want to visit Evel's van, the best possible answer is "no."
