I think he just found out he has 8 months to live or something...

He pledged to do this back in 2010, and he's had the Edutopia foundation for awhile now. This isn't new.

the selling his entire film industry is.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

He pledged to donate the bulk of his wealth, but giving away every penny that you got from selling your most beloved creation is still a bit surprising.

In the interest of not being jaded, I'm going to assume he was visited by 3 spirits in the night who taught him that the true joys in life are giving and letting other people direct your movie franchise. :^)

The internet delivers quickly.  Or for all know these were made long ago.  Point is, I can't think of any of these I wouldn't want to watch.

Further proof that my vote in Steve-O's poll was the right one.

And to (spooky voice on) release the originals, release the originals, release the originals.......

I'm guessing it would be the ghost of movies long past that would show him the horrors of scrapping your original versions in favor of new computer generated junk.

I'm not reading through 11 pages of comments. 1. Disney bought Marvel and didn't seem to negatively impact any of their franchises in any way. 2. Disney has a ton of very talented people working for them and for companies that they own. 3. Maybe they'll force LucasArts to release Battlefront 3.

So what does George Lucas do with the $4.05 billion he got from selling his company to Disney?

He donates it all to education:

What a dick.

No clue, I found them on another forum, and there was no source there either.

Just to be geeky for the sake of being geeky, here's what I want.

Disney presents Star Wars Episode VII, written by Joss Whedon, directed by Brad Bird.

That's a good one. I also wouldn't mind Disney present Star Wars Episode VII, written by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan, directed by Christopher Nolan.

I would rather see Joe Johnston get his Fett movie for that aspect of things.
Intriguing...

Really? I just don't see him as a good fit, unless they do the underworld or something, and I would rather see Joe Johnston get his Fett movie for that aspect of things.  Nolan is too into convoluted plots and guys in business suits to really fit the Star Wars universe in my mind.  Worse, he'd bring Hans Zimmer with him, and I can't even bear to think about that.

Maybe you're right. I just love that brother combo, and it'd be nice to see what they would come up with outside of their comfort zone. And they do have the Batman trilogy under their belts; those weren't all that convoluted.

Anyway, let's try another one.

Disney presents Star Wars Episode VII, written and directed by Andy and Lana Wachowski.

Yeah, he pitched it awhile ago. He's got a couple of great movies under his belt (one a recent hit), and was part of the original Star Wars team. It's a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned.
Here's a story about it.

I'll look at that in a bit.

Disney presents Star Wars Episode VII - Written by Andrew Stanton & Michael Chabon, directed by, well somebody other than Stanton because I don't think they'd let him do that another time (unfairly but there we go).
