That's why I rarely see movies opening weekend. I need to know what my opinion is supposed to be before I form it!

Hilarious.  I don't remember laughing this much during a Marvel movie.

Also, best after credits clip.

I was shocked at how packed my theater was for the marathon.  I did a Saw marathon when Saw 6 came out and it started out with only one other person, with a few more filtering in throughout the day.  I was expecting more than that, but was not expecting it to be packed from the get go.  That theater looked like a bomb went off when it was over.

We signed up for the marathon right away in the AMC in Times Square and it sold out in three days (this was back in March, I guess). They added two more theaters and they sold out right away. This thing was huge. Our theater was also a huge mess but I'm sure it was worth it for the company. They're talking about doing the same thing when the Dark Knight comes out.

I'm still trying to find a bootleg of the after credits clips online.  No luck yet.

Just read on the Wall Street News site that the Friday domestic take is $80.5 million. That's opening day, not even this whole weekend.

Wow. Doesn't that already like- double Harry Potter's record opening weekend in just one day?

Well, that $384 million number reflects the movie's worldwide gross. The Avengers has been playing for a couple of weeks now overseas so it's been able to build up that number. But even so, in that regard it has still beat Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, which had an opening worldwide gross of $381 million.

The Avengers still has a long way to go to beat or match HP & the Deathly Hallows (which is currently reigning at the top spot for opening weekend box office takes). HP's domestic opening weekend was $169 million, but The Avengers brought in $80 million in one day, so it's possible that by the end of the day today they could catch up to HP. I know a lot of people who were doing repeated viewings this weekend -- APGIL and I went to see the midnight show on Thursday and then saw it again yesterday, and one of the guys we saw it with yesterday was going out today to see it again with his friends. I might want to see it again myself. That's how much I enjoyed it.

By the way, I got my information about Harry Potter's opening weekend here. And the Wall Street Journal article that states The Avengers' opening day take is here.

did someone say AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!  i was looking for that but either I missed it or it never happened.  Also towards the end i was getting nervous Stan Lee wasnt going to show up but then blammo.   Whew.

I'm a Marvel comics buff from back in the day when comics were cool (and affordable).  Avengers was always a great title.  I had a looooooong run of Avengers.  Love Captain America and Ultron.

I still have a strong prejudice against Iron Man from the Civil War series.  I was soooo mad when Iron Man won in the end and Captain America was killed.  I threw a fit.  And on top of that what Iron Man did to Spiderman....rrrrrrr....God I'm starting to boil just thinking about it.  I care, dammit.

And to add insult to injury Bucky ends up being the new Captain America, but he runs around with a gun shooting people.  What a f***ing disgrace.  Lots of fans were really pissed about that.  Yes the WW2 cap in the comics had a gun but that wasnt the real Cap.  The real Cap was the idealist, the righteous hero, the born leader.  He would always inspire you to thought bubble towards being a believer.  that was *real* power.  It sounds corny but that was SO WAY COOL AND SUCH A GREATEST THING EVER.  He exemplified the righteousness of the American Ideal by carrying a shield.  Defense.  He would never wantonly murder others even though he could.  He would show restraint with power.  A true hero.

Obviously there are some scenes that actually didn't sit well with me but I'll let em go for now because I still have the glow...
