Frankly, I think the worst movie ever has not been seen by anyone here.  I think it's been filmed, shown to very few people but just got lost to time.
Quentin Tarantino said his first movie was completely incoherent.

Wait a second.  Isn't that true of all his movies?! ;)

Thin Red Line.

It was trying to be a 10, and ended up being a 1.  I contrast this with, say Surf Nazis Must Die, which was trying to be a 3 and ended up being a 3.  Or Salo: 100 Days of Sodom, which was trying to be a 7 and ended up being a 2.

The Dale Scale involves simply "where were they aiming?" vs. "where did they hit?".

More like ended up being in #2!  Huh?  Huh?  Amiright?

I was just making a joke about how his movies are never edited so that things happen in order.

bratpop

Mad Max. It's dark, boring, depressing and stupid. Lol, his family gets murdered. Lol.

Thin Red Line.

I couldn't disagree more, I thought it was amazing.  I remember not understanding why people were going on about Private Ryan because to me it was massively inferior to Red line (although the invasion scene is/was cool)

Thin Red Line.

The new one with Adrian Brody or the one from 1964?
I would bet you some dollars dalem didn't know there was a 1964 version.

The problem with something like The Thin Red Line or The Box is that you can find some legitimate defenders of those movies, either here or some reputable critic.  But then there are movies far worse (So... The Thin Red Line was worse than Manos: The Hands of Fate or Old Dogs [whose target audience figured it was even too stupid for them]?).  Y'know, movies that get loads of Razzies.  Haven't seen Thin Red Line nor The Box but they at least seem like they have a modicum of competence, whereas something like The Bratz Movie looks like it has an intelligence in the negatives.

So let's be clear that picking "The Worst Movie" is very different from "A Really, Really, Really Bad Movie".  Maybe Thin Red Line IS the worst movie you've seen.  I dunno who you are.  I thought this was more or less trying to find a general consensus tho.

Just happy dalem didn't mean The Big Red One with Mark Hamill....

Crow T. Robot 666

Shouldn't we merge this with the beat Nic Cage thread?

Most of the people on that thread like him from what I see.

That's one of those movies I find difficult to insult, since any terrible kind of threat you try to make to it, it would probably enjoy.

But yeah, I hate that movie. One of the few that I've given a score of 1 out of 10 to. It's sorta hard for me to put into words why, but I guess a big reason is because it thinks itself to be much more... 'artistic' than it actually is.

As for the worst movie I've ever seen (and I mean pure lowest overall quality), that title easily belongs to Ax 'Em.

Seriously, without question, that's the one. For a funny runthrough as to why, check this article: http://www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/ax-em/

EDIT: Also, I love Death Proof. Film needs more love, it does :)

Just for clarification, I wasn't trying to insult the movie.  I was making a (bad) anal joke.  Crude, I admit... but still kinda funny I thought.

Another clarification, Death Proof may be my third favorite of Tarantino's, so I'm totally with ya there.  But I wouldn't say it's more "intelligent" than Basterds.

Oh!  And I just remembered one of the worst movies I've ever seen:  Snakes On A Train (by, yes, The Asylum).  I've seen a few of their other rip-offs, and this is the only one I felt dirty after watching.  There wasn't anything redemptive or entertaining about it.  It was just... bad.  The only part worth watching is the horribly CGI'd climax:

OH good night!  That still sounds better then their King Kong knock off I saw on Sci-Fi one night.
