I'd have to go categorically. Worst sci-fi movie: Primer. Sure, it seems interesting at first, because you think they're going to explain stuff and that something will happen at some point. Then when the movie is over, you realize it didn't make sense and nothing really happened. Huge, huge waste of time.

The 4 movies I've ever just turned off and given up on or walked out of the cinema during are: Forrest Gump, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Avengers and Breakfast at Tiffanys.  I don't think any of them were dull (I'd like to watch Avengers again actually) but they actively irritated me.
I was just watching "Forrest Gump" on AMC today and thinking A.) How much I love that movie, and B.) How much my age at the time affected how I view that movie.  Just wondering not so much what pissed you off (I have my guesses), but which part did it become too much?

I think it was when his girlfriend died but I can't be sure, I do remember looking at the exit during every lazy 'setting the era' montage and grimacing at the clunky symbolism.
Wow.  You had like 3mins of the movie left (if even that much!).   :D

I may have heard about that part later, I think it was pretty soon after the running thing?

Just watched the box at my friends. Blaggggggh! what a chud. The most ridiculous plot ever! Worst part is for the first few minutes it seemed really good. :clap:javascript:void(0); my vote for winner : the box

No offence meant but in my opinion the worst move ever is never the last movie you saw, or probably even in the last 10.

No offense to you but watch "the box" and Ill kiss your ass sir  if its not on your list of worst movies!

Um, excuse me.  Uh, hi.  I'm a Primer defender, and from your comments, it seems like you didn't understand the movie or its plot.  There is a plot and a lot is happening.  Almost too much is happening, by which I mean...

And, yes, the timelines get confusing, but that doesn't mean it's incoherent.  Primer is a movie that demands attention, and if you don't follow it closely (or just don't care enough to pay attention closely), then I can see it being a very dull movie, and you might mistake it for "nothing happening".  I'm not sure what "big event" you were waiting to happen, but the nature of the story is about stumbling upon and messing with forces far beyond any human's control; a pandora's box sorta parable, if you will.

Ok, I've said my piece.  Thank you, now carry on.

Doctor Who?

Isn't there some 90 hour movie out there somewhere that some film students made just to make the longest movie ever?  Or did I dream that up?  If it does exist I am willing to bet that is the worst movie ever made.

Haven't heard about that, but I'm willing to bet most film students' movies are the worst movies ever made.

Entirely possible that they did, but at 90 hours, they still wouldn't top the longest one ever: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinematon

Of course, I'm not even really sure that one qualifies as a movie. It seems more like a really long screensaver.

Thought that was Andy Warhol's Empire...

And that or his version of Dracula might win this thread.....

I've seen it, I mostly enjoyed it.  I agree it did get silly in the second half but I was entertained.  :-*

That was originally a short story, then was a 15 minute episode of the New Twilight zone in the 80s.. How they stretched that into 90 minutes or so I don't know.

Frankly, I think the worst movie ever has not been seen by anyone here.  I think it's been filmed, shown to very few people but just got lost to time.  It's possible that Best Brains gave it a few minutes and then through it out.

That said, bad, like good, is relatively subjective.  The big question is can there really be a worst movie ever and if there can, how can it be qualified.

Kinda fatalist view there, so I think the implication is "What's the worst movie you've seen?"  Interesting how that kind of dovetails into my allegation that "the worst movie ever" is probably some student film laying around in some dude's garage right now.  Quentin Tarantino said his first movie was completely incoherent.  Maybe that's the worst and nobody but him will ever know.  So maybe we should quantify this as "worst studio movie" or "worst distributed" movie?

I'm still working on how they "through it out.".....

Wait a second.  Isn't that true of all his movies?! ;)

For clarification i guess i meant "what is your least favorite movie". When I have these conversations I or the  people Im talking to often refer to a movie they hated as "the worst movie ever" so..................

Yes, but they still kickass.
