Doctor Who?

The Star Wars movies were not 98% CG jokes so why would Avatar be 98% CG jokes?  The Star Wars movies have just as much CG as Avatar.

If you look at it from a perspective of hyperbole, 98% of Avatar is CGI. Also, the prequels were the only Star Wars movies to have that level of CGI(Bad thing to have in common if you ask me). Even the Special Editions had very few CGI shots.

Yeah but that is my point there are three Star Wars movies that had the same amount of CG and they were not 98% CG jokes so why would Avatar be. Then again I don't think having CG makes a movie bad so I may not be looking at this right.

They did tend to go more for the CGI "improvements" made to the film rather than the film itself.....

And while many of them were great ("...but this effect you leave alone" about the release of Han) some of them came at the cost of really riffing on the film itself....

It takes a little more talent to put a hilarious spin on the joke. I.E. "Look out it's gonna blow!" "If the first ten minutes are any indication this movie's gonna blow!"

Probably the most clever time they ever did this was in the first two Matrix riffs.  In the first one someone says "this is insane" and Kevin goes "no, actually, this movie makes sense.  The last two movies are insane."  And then in the second movie somebody says "this is a bomb" and Kevin goes "no, this is a dog, the next movie's the bomb."  LMFAO  Those were very clever.
"Did she just say Chipping?"

That's one of the few instances where a compliment for a movie is actually funny. Now that takes some good writing.

I may have used hyperbole to emphasize my point.
I like artificial grape flavor, but I hate real grapes.  A paradox!?

I'm also really sick of the "Mmmm that's good _____" jokes, I honestly thought it was annoying and old the first time I heard it.

I get the feeling the boys just recently discovered the word wang and can't stop using it.

Didn't watch much MST3K then?  ;)

The only use of wang I can think of offhand is from the intro to The Film Crew's Killers From Space. ("Wang coffin?") Examples from MST3k, please.

Here's the weird thing.  The whole sharpie/wang example does ring a faint bell with me, so I'm sure they use it on Rifftrax, but I can't really remember any specific example or any specific trax they used it on.  I guess it's one of those jokes that floats by without making an impression.

appman

how about whenever they make any food references? It's hard to be specific, but they will namedrop some obscure fast food/snack ironically in the context of what a character is thinking or doing, as if the viewer craves the same disgusting snacks and would relate.

More general are jokes in which the riffers overall change the context of what the characters are doing, in order to laugh in comparison to how serious the original context is.
