All I know is they shot Alien Vs Predator Requiem to be R-rated and that didn't make the film much better than the first. They really just need a better story, better characters and better motivation for the Predators to hunt.... including maybe some more insight into their culture?

Agreed, hell AVP and AVPR are two of the worst movies I've ever seen in a theater.

This should easily be much better than those, hopefully its great. That said, I do wish Rodriguez was actually directing it instead of Nimrod, not that there's anything wrong with Nimrod.  ;D

As for the Adrian Brody casting, I think I like it. At least, that's an interesting choice.

Well that's not really what he said.

I know he can buff up for the role, but he's still a dweeb, and incredibly goofy looking. I just can't see him as a viable threat to anyone, not to mention a Predator.

this is all he has to beat, I liked his tommy gun rampage in King Kong.  This ahould be top shelf popcorn fun.
Hey, Danny Glover was the f$#%ng MAN in Predator 2! I like him a lot better in that than the Austrian Oak in the first movie.

Huh? Oh sorry I thought you said AUSTRAILIAN oak! Now that i think about it... what would Predator have been like if Paul
Hogan was Dutch?(And no, I don't mean the nationality, I mean the character).

Hm? Oh, sorry, I was just trying to picture Paul Hogan in wooden shoes.

I agreed that being Rated R didn't save AVPR, then with the "hell" colloquialism I moved on to take it up a notch, pointing out how I'd go so far as to say they're both terrible movies. Just sayin'.  :P

And while Danny Glover is great, I find Predator 2 to be... a pretty flawed movie. Can't compete with the original Schwarzenegger classic.

And it was some wise-ass set decorator in that movie putting the Alien skull on the trophy wall in the ship that started this whole "Alien vs Predator" thing in the first place....

Which wasn't bad until they started trying to film the idea and whizzed it down their legs..

Some concepts are good in principle (having the Predators hunt the Aliens), and some concepts are bad in principle (hiring Paul WS Anderson to direct). The latter overrode the former, unfortunately.

Hmm, for some reason when I saw the title for this thread, I thought it had something to do with Chris Hansen catching Adrian Brody.

That was awful!  :D Oh, and speaking of sequels, what happens if Predators becomes a successful franchise? Will they call the next one Predators 2, Predators 3, Predators 4, Predators 5, Predators 6, Predators 7, Predators 8, Predators 9, Predators 10, and so on?

I can't trash him like other people do.....because of Event Horizon.  And I'm one of the few who likes Soldier - it's not perfect but it works.

I think he decided at some point that he could stay true to his vision or he could get hired as a director, but not both.  So he does what The Suits tell him to.

I liked Event Horizon, too. But that was 12 years ago. He is devolving as a director. Also, he didn't write Event Horizon or Soldier, and the scripts for crap like Resident Evil and AVP were some of the biggest problems.

Nimrod shall now explain to you why they have casted both Adrian Brody and Topher Grace

QuoteAbout two months ago, it was announced that Adrien Brody (King Kong, The Pianist) and
Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3, "That 70s Show") have been cast in the upcoming "Predators" reboot. Considering that some of the original film's cast included such muscle-men as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura, it was a big surprise that Brody and Grace were hired.

ComingSoon has now caught up with director Nimrod Antal to find out his reasons for the move. "I think when we cast Adrien, there were a lot of people going, 'What?' but at the same time, if we cast a Vin Diesel in that role or if we cast anyone who is Arnold-esque, we would have been attacked for doing that," he explained. "So we decided early on to go in a very different direction as far as the casting process, but it turned out fantastic."

Antal continued: "He plays a mercenary in the film and if you look at the guys in Iraq and Afghanistan today, they're not 'yolked-out' Schwarzenegger-looking guys. They're all very wiry and thin guys, and I think it's going to play well."

The leaked script for the movie includes a part for a mysterious man, who lives on the Predator planet and has been avoiding being caught by the monsters for years. Many believe this role is being saved for Schwarzenegger. "Time will tell. We'll see," said the director.

In addition, KGNB News is reporting that the "Predators" production has been filming at Canyon Lake gorge in Texas. The location will serve as the distant Predator planet.
