We loved Sucker Punch, Watchman, and 300. Now we just need someone who hated all three.

It's funny because those movies are all so vastly different in tone. Yeah, they're all pretty
dark films, but one is an exaggerated historical epic, another is a dark and powerful
adaptation of a wildly complex graphic novel(Wait... I guess same applies to 300 also,
NEVERMIND!), and Sucker Punch is.... I don't know how the hell do you categorize
Sucker Punch? Shameful rip-off of inception? How do fans of Sucker punch view it?
I think one of the very few people who liked it was Benzaie from TGWTG.

You know, I'm not a feminist(I'm for equal opportunity exploitation), but if I were gonna
make Sucker Punch I would have just made it a 90 minute Benny Hill sketch.

I think what made 300 so appealing to me is that it was an extreme example of
a small army rising against beyond impossible odds. Maybe it's Gerard Butler
as King Leonidas. I usually don't let performances decide whether I like or
hate a movie, but his performance mostly made the movie for me.

Now if you ask me why I liked Dark of the moon, believe me, it wasn't because i'm a
Transformers fanboy. I've grown out of that phase, and I don't know if I should be
sad or happy about that. I just went in having no expectations, and I just enjoyed
myself immensely because it's still a movie about giant Transforming robots,
and I don't care what anybody says, no matter how bad the movies got, I like
giant Transforming robots way better than movies about Boy Wizards or
most Superheroes in general. (I sure as hell liked DOTM more than Iron Man 2,
for example, but maybe not more than Thor, if that gives you an idea)

Technically Fortress Maximus had a Spike figure because as a Headmaster Spike formed the Autobot Fortress' head.

Spike was the head of the robot that became Fort Max's head.

Didn't I just say that? What's with the Mobius Loop reply?
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

No there was Spike who became the head of Cerebro(iirc) who THEN became the head of Fort Max. So he is the head of the robot that becomes the head of Fort Max.

Then I guess he's a Mobius Loop of a character.

I didn't go to see this movie and I'm glad I didn't.

Frankly, if they can do a 4th one they better make it different. As in, change the goddamn robot designs and make Bumblebee speak. And focus less on the humans, PLEASE.

Also, whoever decided Wheeljack (yes, I'm calling him Wheeljack not Q) should be a Mercedes Benz with an EINSTEIN FACE should be beaten to death with a tire iron.

Unfortunately, given how much this series of movies has made at the box office I would be surprised if they change very much in the fourth one. Yeah, it may have a different director, but they'll probably choose another hack and keep the robot designs similar, and have similar characters. Can't mess too much with their cash cow, after all.

Sideswipe

Well you are SOL.  They are not going to change the robot designs untill the whole thing gets rebooted.  Producer Don Murphy has already said most likely  there will be no reboot.  The new designs are too well known to be scrapped.  I agree though, I think Bumblebee should be talking again.  As for a movie with less focus on the robots, never gonna happen in a big budget film like these.  The average movie goer with little to no Transformer knowledge is going to need that human connection.  Q is not Wheeljack, Dino is not Mirage, get over it.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

Well, at least the Rifftrax for this will be out soon. Here's hoping for another same-day release.

i haven't seen this one (for obvious reasons), but I am kinda curious about the final third of it. As even some of the reviewers who hate these movies as much as me (Spoony most notably) have said that the ending long action scene is pretty good. The 3D forcing Michael Bay to dispense with the quick cuts and pull the camera back. I have no doubt that the movie as a whole is going to be aweful, and that the riffing will be hilarious. But if Bay put in more "Optimus being badass" moments, then at least it will be somewhat of an improvement. Gee, Bay, it's almost like you should have been doing that FROM DAY ONE! It's not like that was what made the TV show popular or anything.

And yet the Firefly movie couldn't even make $40 million at the box office, what a world.

Serenity was not that good of a movie.

It was a pretty damn good movie, one of the best sci-fi films of the decade, and certainly better than any of the Transformers movies.

But that's all irrelevant. Box office performance has nothing to do with the quality of a film as has been proved time and time again. Serenity was made for the fans of Joss Whedon and Firefly - not a large demographic however you count it. Transformers was made for people who like/d Transformers and explosions and heterosexual males who will take any excuse to ogle a "traditionally" beautiful woman (and ladies who are into ladies, too).

When you market to the lowest common denominator, you get big returns -it's just simple math.

I sometimes wish I lived in a world where unique, entertaining movies like Scott Pilgrim and Serenity are the high grossers, and also there are unicorns and I'm a race car driver, but at least I live in a world where movies like that get made (at least, they would get made before Universal realized losing money wasn't an effective business strategy and effectively put a stop to great films like At the Mountains of Madness forever and ever).

Sadly that is true.  If it were not the Star Wars prequels would have grossed $6 and District 9 would have made over a billion dollars.
