Miami Connection, for the second time, I think I enjoyed it even more than the first. Its about perfect it's a sincere if misguided effort to make a film, it seemed to have had a real budget, and the riff is solid all the way through.

BathTub

Velvet Smooth, ok, sort of like a high school production stage play with 3 sets.

BathTub

Guy from Harlem, a really great all round riff. Inept film, but earnest film making, hilarious characters, expected sexiness that doesn't pan out in hilarious ways, definitely one I could easily recommend people watch.

Supersonic Man

This is the first time I've rewatched it since I first bought it years ago. I kind of remembered it as being a bit middling, but I was wrong. Sure, the movie is like if Pumaman was 5% better, and didn't have an Aztec saving our hero, and while it's not quite on that previous super hero movie's level, it's still hilarious. What's happening on screen is ridiculous, our hero not being shown doing anything super powered, aside from punching through paper walls and picking up paper mache steamrollers, but everything blows up like it was made of explodium anyway.

Cameron Mitchell is our Donald Pleasence this time out, but is dubbed so we only get the hammy, half drunk acting and not the hammy half drunk dialogue that only he can deliver. His plan doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but he has lots of guys in hard hats and colored outfits, death traps in every hallway, and a right hand man who wants to be his Odd Job, but doesn't have a cool razor hat. Just prematurely greying hair.

Oh yes, some drunk guys appears in every other scene for no reason.

The riffing is seriously spot on. Very good on what's happening before us in a comical way including small details. The movie itself is cheesy so it's that riffing that makes it watchable. While not classic, it's a very entertaining feature nonetheless. Also a genre that's more rarely touched upon so the jokes come from a different direction than say a post apocolyptic world or an 80's martial arts film with everyone in mullets and huge shoulderpads.

Recommend.

That steamroller is at the top of my "I can't believe they're trying to pass that off as a special effect" moments.

Yeah, that bit is great. It's both ambitious for the super low budget they clearly had, and incompetently done even for an effect like that.
Show that scene to people who say "practical effects are always better than CG".

I know where you're coming from, but then I flashback to Suburban Sasquatch's CG and... i think it's still somehow worse than cardboard steamroller. I mean you lose either way so it doesn't really matter...

I just meant that some people glorify practical effects as if they are always good. They are often rushed and not enough resources put into them, just like CGI can be.

I think Fungicide proved that all kinds of special effects can look just horrible.

I had the Rifftrax channel on a week or two ago and there was something on that I wasn't fully paying attention to but it stuck with me.  I assume it was a short.  It was like mental insanity with the visuals being shots of cityscapes.  The narrator was a chirpy woman who was gleefully saying this nonsense.  And it was bizarre like little vignettes of something and then slow helicopter shots of cityscapes and then back to spoken word nonsense.  Late 60s/early 70s feel to it and like a PSA but I can't imagine what for.

Any idea what that was?  It's haunted me.

Betcha it was Drugs are like that with Anita Bryant. I personally owned all of the clothes that little girl was wearing. Ug the late sixties.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2

Got this as a freebie with something I bought. Luckily it was on Netflix, since I would never have bought the thing for more than a dollar (which it might have been at the local used media store). Also it helps a little on justifying bothering to still pay for NF. Only saw the first riff (and movie) of the series and while I enjoyed it... let's just say watching the first one unriffed once kind of traumatized me. So I decided to suck it up and give it a shot. Hey... freebie after all.

And for me this was a home run on level with the first. Despite having seen nothing in-between this and the first movie, I didn't feel lost at all. Which tells you how uninteresting all of it is. The riffs were brilliant in conjunction with the laughably horrible execution of everything happening on screen. Who the hell though Abomi-baby was a good idea? At least I'm assuming the author was the one who thought Launter pedo-ing thing was a great idea at resolving a romantic triangle rather than a movie exec. Nooo, not creepy at all. While the constant call back to these two ostensibly most horrific choices, amongst every single one made in this film, is justified since both really are that bad. I always felt amused by them mentioning that, or the wooden acting. Or Evil Guy's Most Goofy laugh ever. But yeah, this was a magnificent dumpster fire shot in dull monotone and the guys have tons of lines since there's always something painful happening on screen.

Highly recommend.

Before I Say Goodbye

Yes, it's a Lifetime type movie. It's absolutely the epitome of one. You know what they are like? Well this is like those.

And I actually enjoyed it. Sean Young might be sleepwalking through this, but that's still light years better a performance than anything by Joe Estevez... or 90% of the people in rifftrax films. The story was engaging enough. Standard but solid. The ladies were the perfect choices for this as their style of comedy fits the film. There's nothing terrible in the film, other than your usual Lifetime style cheese. I think since I enjoyed the movie itself (for what it was) that helped a lot. It's no Deadly Instinct level of fun (still my favorite work by the lasses) but worth owning.

Feeders! Holy heck, vhs horror at it's peak, hahaha. So bad an inept, but the riff made it well worth the watch.
