George-2.0

The Veil - Part 1 - Picked up a few 'trax during the St. Patrick's day sale. Matthew and Ian are on fire... much like Boris Karloff in the opening sequence. 3 episodes are riffed on - I'd never heard of this series, so it was cool getting to watch it, and the quips were quite funny.

I finally got around to burning and watching a copy of Megaforce I acquired under dubious circumstances. (Don't worry! I hit up the donate button after acquiring it! I'm not a thief!) Man, I wish this one hadn't been pulled from the catalog. It's immediately one of my favorites. It's stupid in my favorite ways. Like an episode of GI Joe come to life.

Well, we'll lead off with one I just saw last week, and now it turns out it's no longer available

McBain

It's the most un-Christopher Walken Christopher Walken performance ever by the man himself. Mind you he's not bad, but there's nothing trademark CW that will make you remember his performance in this. Michael Ironside is very Michael Ironsidey though. Really, this movie isn't godawful per se as it's poorly paced and missing a lot of stuff, including giving Walken's posse personalities. But it's put together competently if lamely in a lot of places. This is one of those movies that 'just happened'. There's nothing so ridiculous in it that makes it memorable. Pretty average outing. The riffing is solid but nothing that makes for classic lines for me (except a Pinata one toward the end). And since it appears no longer available, I won't tell you at what point you should purchase it in the library. Even though it was forgettable kind of glad I grabbed it when I did.

The Last Slumber Party

Arguably the most awful slasher film they've done, and there's some stinkers in that category. This movie is painfully bad in every way from start to finish. There is nothing redeeming about it. Acting, dialogue, and the least compelling serial killer ever. They were going for Michael Myers and ended up with Mike Myers instead. The Dark Power was Citizen Kane next to this as that movie had heart and Lash and his whip in it. It does give the guys material to work with, but that is all the movie has going for it as it would be unwatchable without it. I would make this a late buy as there is tons of better stuff to get first.

And now the best entry into this

The Devil's Hand

B+W tale of Commissioner Gordon from Batman... not Oldman or Hingle, the TV one, being an evil devil worshipper who, with his femme fatale, entices our protagonist into joining the cult he's a head of. In hindsight, I'm not sure the guys really did one like this. It's not horror in the classic sense, but more like a fall from grace via seduction and temptation. Not Biblical but broader and about the human condition. It's a bit slow but not so long it wears out its welcome, and while simple in a sense, it's compelling enough to keep you interested in the movie to wonder what happens next. The riffs march right alongside it, making it a great match. The time and genre gives them plenty of material to keep you amused and entertained and the guys often have a knack with movies from this era. There are few the crew did that I didn't enjoy. While not a true classic, I do recommend it. Especially if it's on sale.

ROTOR. Geez, could the lead actor be any less interested in being in the film? I thought he must have been the writer/director, but he wasn't! The premise for this film is ridiculous, they designing robot cops for a post apocalyptic world 50 years in the future, that's hilarious. My sister caught that one guy had a drawn on beard! Surprised that wasn't riffed on.

She's Out Of Control (Rowsdower And Torgo iRiff) sycned up to Starz On Demand.

Yeah, I can see why Siskel wanted to quit after that infamous review.
Goodbye England!  You've been crushed by giant lizards!

Gumby! Seriously what the heck? Alien Gumby and Pokey raise money to start their own loan company for farmers.

Fun riff, I was expecting 'It stinks' and got it. I think a lot of us would have been disappointed without it. Oh and I loved the Naked Gun reference. I felt like Captain America!

Mother Of The Bride

I was cringing when the I Will Survive scene came on.  Excuse me while I imitate Chandler Bing.  Could that scene be anymore cliched?
Goodbye England!  You've been crushed by giant lizards!

Iron Curtain

Gumby: The Movie

This is one of those "bad movies" that I unironically love, such as Problem Child 2. It's probably since nostalgia and appreciation of the technical aspects of the film make me forgive their terrible flaws.

BathTub

Twilight New Moon, god how do they drag this out for another 3 movies! A solid riff with some great lines.

So why don't we start of with a short

William, from Georgia to Harlem

While the guys think this is the prelude to 'The Guy From Harlem, I like to think it was the forerunner to Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Not really ridiculous and pointless as so many other educational shorts, it was just kind of slowish. Riffs were good, and in the end, William had his friend's back. Like that Guy From There.

Swamp of the Ravens

Italian film that was lame, boring, and with a weak 30 minute plot that was dragged out to an hour and a half. There's a swamp full of zombies that do nothing. No protagonist you feel the least bit interested in, and all around blandness through and through. And even with the guys doing their best, it drags. I think things like this are why they edit some films. It would have helped this one since the movie itself drags. Lower tier. Lot of better ones to get first.

Fangs of the Living Dead

Now this is cleavage more like it. Another Italian romp that's more lively and with vivid cleavage characters and at least an attempt at a bit of mystery, though not a very good one. But there is effort in it. The plot and twist at the end cleavage contradict themselves, but apparently that was studio meddling, so you'll be left with 'what the heck?' at the very end. And cleavage.
Solid effort. While not nearly a classic, it's worth owning, especially if you like the genre and prominent tracts of land in film.

Fellowship of the Ring

I bought this mp3 but thought I had never watched it. Then I couldn't find my copy of FotR, though I found the other five middle earth movies in the process. I figured when I upgraded to blu ray and got rid of the DVDs I hadn't actually gotten that one. So I bought a new one. Got everything lined up... and my player which is only two years old picks up at the end credits. Yep, I had watched this and forgotten it.

And I have no idea how. While it's only Mike and Kevin, it is brilliant and fun. Yes, the film is great, but man they still make many wondrous jokes that are so very very amusing. I mean this for me is a must see, and it's two and a half hours worth of top notch riffing. They never let up, and always hit the mark. This and Two Towers are their A Game (still have to watch Return of the King). I extremely recommend this one.

And naturally I  found my copy of it a week after watching it. Ah well, can always regift the older one

Replica, what an incredible riff to follow up Birdemic with, I think they should be a double feature.

Don't forget to finish up the trilogy with Julie and Jack!

BathTub

Yep we just did that last night, I said we had to complete the trilogy. Probably the best storywise just James Nguyen'd.

Samurai Cop! A pretty terrible knock off of Lethal Weapon. But a great riff. I couldn't help but think how much he looked like a friend of mine. Film was edited so poorly but the riff was fantastic.
