I didn't love/hate or like/dislike this movie. I just watched it. I was never invested. I was constantly analyzing the whole thing. I didn't feel any suspense when characters were in danger. The movie just... exists.

I did enjoy this movie. But I am surprised that it is this big of a moneymaking juggernaut. It even looks like it will even beat out Inside Out this weekend.

I'm not too surprised. Dinosaurs have been missing from the theaters for the last 13 years. I think people just wanted to re-experience and share it with there kids. Personally i enjoyed it.

Well that was a good time. It's easily the best of the JP Sequels. Not that THAT'S an incredibly high hurdle to jump. I liked that while the Jurassic Park DNA (if you will) was alive and well, it took things in a new direction, and didn't feel the need to toot too many of the original horns. (No ripples in coffee cups or characters echoing catch phrases, except the one...)

After having a lot of time to think about it a while... I still really like Jurassic World. It actually has a soul and heart, and I even like it better than the original JP... yes, I know... BLASPHEMY!!

That guy looks familiar but I can't remember where that's from.

I've never thought the first was that good, the characters are pretty weak and those kids annoy me

Yeah...I didn't like Grant, Sadler, Malcolm, Hammond or Muldoon all that much. Owen(Pratt) is a much stronger character than all of them put together, and I like Claire(Howard) better as a character too.

I was ok with Grant.  Malcolm is at least memorable for his oddity.  I felt a bit sorry for Hammond because of how all of his good intentions had gone awry.

Hammond was far more likable in the movie than he was in the book, but then again Attenborough could have played just about anyone and made him likeable.

Interesting, I read the book after seeing the movie, so it was hard not to picture Hammond as likeable old Attenborough.

Spielberg is generally good about making characters much more likable in the adaptation process (see also: Jaws the novel vs. Jaws the film). With the tone and style he was going for in that first movie, having Hammond be more of a Walt Disney-esque pioneer worked much, much better than having him be a more avertly dickish control freak with no regard for human life.

Folks attacking the first film's characters leave me baffled. There's this weird idea out there that "simple" characters are the same as "flat/bad" characters, which isn't any more true than "complex" characters automatically being "good" characters. The folks in the original may have been fairly basic by design, but at least they all had personality and charisma to breathe life into everything. Compare to Pratt, who everyone likes because it's Pratt, and not because of anything his character does (which isn't much at all, really. He just shows up and is right every time about every thing).

That even goes for the kids in the original. Annoying yes, but at least they had some spirit in that. Compare to the deadbeat kids in the new movie, who would've been better served getting crushed and/or eaten at the first possible opportunity.
