That is some next level pedanticism.

It's called paying attention.  They started out creating ice crystals on her skin, so the first thought is "they are going to do a proper scene with a person blown into space", then they quit doing that with her eyes so that flash of disappointment took me out of the movie for a moment.  Star Wars has never been big on using real physics so it shouldn't have been a surprise that they didn't follow through, but it's not easy to constantly remind oneself this is Star Wars, ignore the physics.

I meant you saying you weren't talking about her opening her eyes, you were talking about crystals not forming (when she opened her eyes). It's the exact same point. The force. Is magic. The magic made it so she could open her eyes. (Without crystals forming)
FINE

So doing something people do all the time, opening their eyes, is exactly same point as ice crystals forming on them because of the vacuum of space?  You are the one that asked for clarification of what I was talking about.  You are also ignoring pretty much the entire paragraph I wrote above...

You know what, this thread already has enough boring arguments - I've removed my response.

Feel free to think I thought you thought she was incapable of opening her eyes.
FINE

I really don't wanna add Star Wars to the list of topics we have to discuss in the Inferno, you guys.

Repeat to yourself, "It's just a show..."

She's using magic to pull her back onto a ship, but her opening her eyes is too much?

Is there a way to interpret this that I am not aware of?  Was it meant to be a joke?  That's why I'm confused.

You know, I've made it clear I love the movie as a whole but I'll say this: That scene did not come across as awe-inspiring as the score was telling me it was supposed to be.

You can have the greatest special effects in the world, but there are some things where, no matter how realistic you make it look, your brain's just gonna say, "Nope. No way I'm actually looking at this."

And guess what? If someone told me my mom and dad were Daphne Zuniga and Bill Pullman I would say "No... that's not true! That's impossible!"

When Leia got blown into space, I thought for sure they added that scene to explain away Carrie Fisher's death.

I'm not sure what's worse, Leia being relegated to an off-screen death, or having Carrie Fisher replaced with a CGI model, a la Peter Cushing in Rogue One (Disney, please don't do this)

Cyrusso

I think Disney already said they're not going to put a CG Carrie Fisher into episode 9. If you want my honest opinion, what I would do is... and yes I'm 95% sure JJ won't do this, but I would start Episode 9 with Leia's funeral, and have Poe, Rey and Finn say some words.

Given the unfortunate circumstances, that may be a reasonable way to do it.
I could also see them simply keeping her offscreen and other characters referencing her. "We just got orders from General Leia".

MartyS (Gromit)

They could start the movies with the new young rebels off on some mission when the planet Leia is on gets destroyed by the next death star, and they spend the rest of the movie trying to destroy it.  >:D

I played keyboard for the new young rebels years ago....  :rimshot:

Or they could do like what was done for Poltergeist 3 and use a body double shot from behind.
