Spoiler tags are still helpful.  I don't know about anyone else, but I prefer to hang out in the "Recent Posts" area.

Thanks. I edited my post to unhide the spoilers.

I wonder what Imrahil and Lesbunny will have to say. They'll probably hate it... just a guess though.

It really says something for Ian McDarmand because I realized just now the Emperor was on screen about as much as Snoke, and before the prequels, pretend they don't exist-- for real instead of how you just SAY you pretend they don't exist-- his backstory his gone, the fact that his first name is Sheev is gone-- all we know about him is in the original trilogy!

Not much different, right? We basically know his name, that he's the head bad guy, he's manipulating everything, wants to rule the galaxy. And yet they're VERY different, Snoke is considered underdeveloped while the Emperor is one of the most memorable villains of all time. Even though I AGREE with that, I have a hard time really explaining why.

Sorry, I'm rambling. The edible little movie helpers I made worked spectacularly last night and I have leftovers. I adapted a really simple fudge recipe I have-- I deliberately changed that from "I made fudge". Which is a problem I had with this, because what's the euphamism to use here? I can't use the one they use for brownies, you can't say "I made special fudge!" because, well, same invitation to a misunderstanding, isn't it?
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

Then why fucking use them?

I hate that this trilogy poisons the enjoyment I have (had?--I was reading a ROTJ story to my son last night and it just made me sad to see the bullshit lie of the ending) of the OT.

Think you guys are missing something very important that seemed abundantly clear in both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi,

I really dug the movie, great stuff! Had high expectations, was a little dubious on if it would live up to the hype, but for me it hit the spot. It subverted some tropes/expectations while also being another genuine Star Wars adventure to me. I dig it.

On the above topic about killing off characters, I will say, going into this, one of my hopes was (this spoiler post includes some unnamed Harry Potter spoilers by the way)

Big shoes to fill, and for me I do kind of look at these new ones as their own thing, even though it's canon, so I don't have to give it this huge weight of really living up to the original trilogy, which is almost impossible for me. Though honestly, when Luke had that wonder in his eyes, talking to R2 and whatnot, the tone of his voice etc, it really hit me with the Star Wars feels and nostalgia. Can't wait for the next ones.

It's not that they died. It's that they were completely  miserable and everything they "won" turns out to be hollow and meaningless. All to create a reset button to add to the story that was finished. Luke and Han weren't getting their stories finished, they were being rewritten and used to make Disney's characters seem more important.

That's what makes me so sad. They're now pointless and their victory is hollow.

What about when Obi Wan died? Or when Yoda died? I think the only difference is your emotional attachment to them. What did either of them accomplish with their deaths?

As part of the heroes journey, your mentors must be removed from the story.

And Han's story was absolutely not complete until he sacrificed himself. That is the only reasonable ending to his arc, and not dying in Jedi is one of the main problems with it.
