What Summer Blockbuster do you think will "Win?"

Place your bets here, ladies and gentlemen! This summer has the biggest heaping of mega-blockbusters I've ever seen. Just wondering which one everyone thinks is going to win. Discuss! Debate! Put your vote into words so you can say you were right or we can all say you were wrong! :^)

Spiderman 3 has the record-breaking head-start and Shrek 3 is right on its tail, but look at all these other big movies! It's like every heavyweight ever is battling for the summer bucks.

I'm not listing EVERY big movie, but I think every choice here has some precidence that says it could win it for the summer.

I'd say Spiderman except that Pirates has WAY earlier advance showings, and Spiderman fizzled a bit after its two opening weekends

Would love to say Transformers or Simpsons, but I'm going to be realistic and say Pirates will take the summer. I see most folks here are assuming the same. At the very least, it'll tie with Spiderman. The lead will be impenetrable in either case.

Gotta go with Pirates 3.  I mean, unless it's an absolute catastrophe, it should rake in a solid amount each week for the whole summer after what will almost certainly be a gargantuan opening weekend.

I'm surprised, actually. I was expecting it to be neck and neck between Spiderman and Pirates, and I definitely didn't expect Transformers to take second place (However distant). :^) Of course the voting's still early, and the favors might change when we see how Pirates does this weekend.

So can anyone think of another summer that had THIS many mega-blockbusters?

i think you are all underestimating the simpsons.  i voted for pirates but im thinking simpsons might be more powerful long run.  there may not be as much excitement about it, but i dont know ANYONE who has said they wont see it.

I just hope Ratatouille bombs... I saw the trailer and it looks so massively stupid with obvious jokes, pratfalls that have been done millions of times before in the same vein. Of course, since most of you already are aware of my intense dislike of Disney you already know what I think.

In terms of what looks like will be the best movie, with Spiderman 3 proving to be not up to snuff, I'd go with Ratatouille, since Pixar has a perfect story track record with me. In terms of which film will make the most money, SM3 will be hard to beat, but I think Pirates will win in the long run.
