Well, this one had more of the monster(s) in it than was promised in the title and then not delivered in episode 5, but I think that's the reason I liked 5 better than this one. Halfway through the new episodes and I'm enjoying them enough to feel season 11 was worth my money and now my time. Could nitpick a lot of things that I hope are improved upon in Season 12 (if Season 12 happens), but my biggest gripe (and I still have 7 episodes to go so that opinion might change a bit) is too many big monster movies and No biker/beatnik/teenage crimewave/non-big monster horror flicks. I think what I liked about episode 5 (despite not being a fan of westerns)  is that it could have passed for a standard western and would have without the last 5 minutes which really weren't necessary, so it came across as different than another big monster movie which it what I was expecting.

This is maybe the best actual movie to be featured in an episode ever? I feel like I wouldn't feel too upset seeing this unriffed.

Riff-wise, this was my least favorite episode of the new season. I didn't laugh even once (whereas I laughed in previous episodes).

Then again, as I am wont to say, every MST3K season has their stinkers.

Toyland Chairman

Just a small Easter egg. In one of the host segments Jonah is reading THE PELICAN BRIEF by John Grisham. Mike was reading the same book in SPACE MUTINY. Different copy obviously, but story-wise I suppose Mike left his book behind.

About twenty minutes in and I think the performances on the riffing is the best so far. I haven't noticed any that were noticeably rushed or delivered too flat.

Why does it take A THIRD of the way into the movie before we even get to the island? Why was all this boring submarine shit necessary?

Not my favorite, but not bad.  My father in law loves this movie, and has forced it upon my wife a bunch of times.

Though I do like the introduction of spilling the movie on the floor as a cute little lore justification for editing the movie down for time.

I was wondering about that. So what was cut? The was SOOOO much of this movie at the beginning that was completely unnecessary.

Movie delivery guy explained the scene, it was the English taking the sub back from the Germans.

And I think there was some tedious sailing before realizing they were lost when they reached the icebergs, but it's been forever since I've watched this.

Another movie I haven't seen since I was a kid, and another one where HD shows it's flaws way more than a small TV.

Oh crap an Acapella Group, get down!

I hate playing Uboat.

No pictures!

I bet it remembers when rock was young!

Lou Ferigno Babies!

Freedom! Adrian! Khan!

I didn't kill my wife! I don't care!

BathTub

A sort of average episode, alright but not great. Another one where you're conscious that the film has been chopped up for time.

Johnny Unusual

It was a decent enough episode and a surprisingly watchable movie.  And, as stated, I do like the "spilled some of the movie" as a way to say "sorry fans of the show/fans of the movie, we had to cut some of this out.

losingmydignity

This one was okay. Some funny bits but, yeah, maybe the movie is a little too competent for them to get their teeth into, uh, so to speak.

Man, that caveman was annoying.

WhyDontTheyLook

Pretty good episode, overall.  I think I'm warming up to the host segments more... or maybe they're just getting better.
