Double feature:
-Ator Rifftrax
-Then Cave Dwellers MST3K

Despite Cave Dwellers being a Joel episode, the lack of call backs in Ator was disappointing. Both were funny, but I enjoyed Cave Dwellers  more.

Iron Curtain

I just watched the movie. If that were an episode, it would be my favorite one. I laughed at the riffs even more than The Final Sacrifice!

902 The Phantom Planet

The movie's audio track towered over MKB, causing their riffs to be drowned out completely or too low to hear. The same issue happened during 904 The Deadly Bees. I wonder if the soundtrack could be fixed somehow on a state of the art master sound board? Is there any way the tracks could be separated using today's tech and the episode's audio remixed?   :-\

Maybe a more cost effective option would be subtitles for MKB only?

Update-using the Dolby Pro Logic decoder brings out the commentary a little better than 2 channel or 5 channel stereo. There are still moments when the commentary is completely drowned out, but I was able to hear more commentary than the first viewing when not using that amplifier decoder.

The fan copy and commercial release of 902 produces the same audio results, so it's not isolated.

Iron Curtain

509: "The Girl In Lovers Lane". I didn't like it. It's not my cup of tea. I couldn't follow the plot.

Was that the episode where for some reason the first time it aired there was an echo on the commentary? I vaguely remember that happening sometime in the mid-Sci-Fi era.

That was episode 901, The Projected Man

Due to Joel releasing this to backers, I watched this myself Saturday. Couldn't remember it, but I enjoyed it.

1108: "The Loves Of Hercules"

This was such a wacky episode.

Dug out Vol. 15 and watched Zombie Nightmare in memory of Adam West. I'd never seen it before. He was too good for that movie.

You could also watch it on Netflix (which I did).

After watching the Presents Hanger 18, I decided to go back and watch the MST3K version. I expected more from a late season KTMA episode. Presents was much better. Then watched The Last Chase and Legend of the Dinosaur and both were much better and what I expected from later KTMA episodes.

Well, to be fair, it was a KTMA episode. I guess that means by the same token, the quality of shows can only get better in Season 12 (should Netflix choose to cough up the dough for them).

Had the Twitch marathon on for most of last week. (You all knew about the twitch marathon, right? Someone probably should have posted about that...) Was reminded how much I love the riffing on the "X Marks the Spot" short, and rediscovered my fondness for A Touch of Satan. I also caught the "Making of MST3K" Sci-Fi special that I haven't seen since it first aired. Is that on one of the DVD sets? It's kind of a trip to see the crew talking about MST3K not only before they knew it was going to make a comeback, but before they knew it was going to be cancelled.

With a few exceptions, I find most of the KTMA episodes after the first 8 or so to be equal to many of the season 1 shows. And I would hope that Season 12 (if it occurs) would show some improvements over 11 (I enjoyed season 11 a lot, but after making my way back through all the episodes a second time and comparing them to the original show run, what was missing for me was a sense of improvement from episode 1 to the end and a lack any character development from start to finish- an example being Kevin's angrier Crow and not feeling that the new cast really made the characters their own in any comparible way- all likely due to the way the season was written and filmed- but things that could be improved upon even if season 12 is written and filmed in the same way).

I had the Twitch marathon on some over the weekend (due in part to Pluto TV being stuck in a rut and repeating the same few episodes too often) and caught the 3 part "Making of" special and the "Behind the Scenes" Syfy era special. Enjoyed both and both are included on the DVD sets but it had been awhile since I'd seen them, so couldn't tell you which ones.

MST3K Season 1 episode 1 The Crawling Eye

I watched this yesterday and felt the beginning was a bit slow but the second half was really funny.  I actually like the reveal of the monsters in this one even though the aliens are giant goofy eyeballs they still manage to feel menacing to me.

MST3K Season 3 episode 6 Time of the Apes

I thought this was much funnier than the other episode I watched and I liked that it was basically a 'Planet of the Apes' rip off.
