Devilfish

I remember loving this back in the day. It was when the crew were in the zone. First time I've seen it in a looong time, and while it was very good, it wasn't quite the classic I recall. The titular creature is only seen in shadow nearly the entire time. While every single time they reveal the tiniest piece of it shows it's a terrible prop, we don't get to see all of it in its unholy glory. There was some wonderful Italians impersonating Americans and America in it which the guys go through. The cast in it alternates between boring and unlikable. When they get killed off, it's kind of a relief. It's like a far worse version of the other Italian rip off of Jaws they did: The Last Shark. It needed a crusty Vic Marrow and a former lead in a Planet of the Apes movie. Instead we get an electrician and a plank of wood in a bikini. And both have the acting ability of planks of wood. I think they were the leads, but only because they make it to the end. They have no discernable characters: they just exist. You probably could have replaced both with actual planks and no one might have been the wiser.

Oh yes, female Richard Dreyfuss who appears halfway in doesn't manage to get one scientific fact right in her scientific discussion. That's pretty damn impressive.

The skits were well done with the cast paying for insulting both dolphins and electricians. Recommend it but more like a stronger effort rather than must see or anything. I really think 'The Last Shark' was superior for the nearly same idea.

612 The Starfighters
I know some people hate this episode because the movie is void of any plot and over half of it is stock footage of planes. But to me it is the perfect example of how MST3K in their prime could make an otherwise totally unwatchable flick entertaining.  Really great riffs to the point where this episode is probably in my top 20.

First Thanksgiving in several years I didn't spend good part of the day watching the Turkey Day marathan. Thankfully it was put up on demand this year and broken down by episodes. Gets taken down off the gizmoplex after Monday, so get it soon if you're interested. Watched all the new intro T Day host segments first - more effort put into segments than some years but nothing newsworthy and just Synthia and Kinga. Old episodes shown are all digitally enhanced to HD which is a bigger reason to watch. Watched Mitchell amd Horror of Party Beach this morning. Both enhancements well done.

Horror of Party Beach
This one is still damn funny. The funniest part of the movie is the lady near the end of the film who sounds like she's faking an orgasm. Of course, the monster masks are still ridiculous too, what with it looking like pickles jutting out of the monster's mouth. Like... back in the 1950's, how in the ever loving fuck did people take this shit seriously?

I just thought of something... the ocean gets polluted, makes mutant monsters, which is absolutely ridiculous, so the probable message  backfires and causes people to not take environmental protections seriously... holy shit...

HORROR OF PARTY BEACH IS BASICALLY BIRDEMIC!!!!!
