Finally had time to finish Obduction.  Great game, really enjoyed it.  Though I'm kicking myself because I got stuck, caved, and looked up an answer online once.

I noticed that early on and it made me wonder:

I need to finish this game. I got as far as the Villein number stuff and couldn't make heads or tails of it.

I figured out the first Villein number puzzle the way the game intended but I never did decipher how to make a specific number.  The rest of them I just brute forced until they did what I wanted them to.

EDIT: Just looked up the answer to the Villein number puzzle

Conquered Yoshi's Wooly World over the weekend. Very satisfying since it's the first Nintendo platformer I've conquered in a very long time.

Of course there are still secrets to be found and accompanying secret stages to unlock. Like most of Yoshi's games, it's not hard to beat all of the levels. (Even my 4-year-old can beat a few.) But if you want to find ALL the hidden flowers, yarn balls, and stamps (Which unlock stages, new Yoshi patterns ,and... stamps) the game can be diabolical. And my son's not gonna rest (or let me rest) until I have it all. He's smart enough to see that there are still stages that haven't been woven together. And those secret stages feel like some of the Mario Maker stages out there where you have to do EVERYTHING just right, in the right order, or it's back to the start. So there's still a lot of fun (and "fun") to be had.

Yeah, I haven't finished it yet, but I keep playing ahead, then coming back and trying to clear the levels properly. Unfortunately, my son only lasts a few levels before he's asking me to go back to Mario Kart :P

I do think it's the best platformer on the Wii U.
FINE

Just finished Paper Mario (N64) again. Such a delightful game. I wish I had access to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, which I don't think I ever actually finished? But I might roll on to Super Paper Mario next.
FINE

I finally finished Earthbound. I haven't seen such a satisfying ending to game in a long time. So much care went into the player experience and making you feel connected. Now I'm going to try to figure out a way to play the translated Mother 3 ROM without lag.

Pak-Man

Break out the tissues for Mother 3. The ending is pretty harsh.

Quirk

I just bought an english Mother 3 cartridge on eBay. It's illegal, but I'm willing to pay somebody for the effort and expertise to put the ROM onto something I can play without lag. If Nintendo wants my money, they know what to do.

When you say 'lag', what do you mean?  I remember playing a patched mother 3 without any lag on my computer.  What are you trying to play it on?

Quirk

The emulator (VBA) runs just poorly enough to screw up the rhythm aspect of battling. Looking around for fixes, it seemed like just about everybody has the same issue.

I actually imported a Japanese cart and printed out a huge translation guide I downloaded on Gamefaqs. (The translation patch hadn't been released yet.) Not the most efficient way to go about it, but very satisfying.

I did the same thing for Final Fantasy 5. By the end, I had no idea what the plot was. Fortunately FFV is much more gameplay driven than FFIV and most later Main series games. So I did finish the game. . Also did this for Romancing SaGa 3. Obviously, this was before there were any official translations and fan made ROM hacks.

Huzzah!  Beat my first game of Civ VI.  Feel a little sick inside cause I won on a religion victory though.  Even if I was religious myself I definitely wouldn't want to go around forcing everyone to believe what I do like I did in the game.  Buuuttt I had such an advantage in religion on this one... and for the most part my apostles could just roam wherever they wanted and no one would care.  They were ignored harder than a Jehovah's Witness.  Managed a win with only one civic in the modern era.

Maybe all that's because I played on warlord instead of prince.  Definitely going to do prince next time (maayyybe king... but I duno), and I'm going to aim for either a science or cultural victory and feel good about myself.  Though I did learn it's important to start a religion and have a couple apostles around to throw some lighting if other religions get preachy.  I didn't realize religious units can fight without actually declaring war.

And I promise this is the last one, but the guy picking these quotes keeps pulling from my favorite comedies of all time.  I'll spoiler this one cause I'm sure it's getting annoying.

Ha, I'm playing as Rome and I haven't gotten Sanitation yet.

I wish I had started my first game of Civ 6 on an easier difficulty. I'm playing on Prince, and I nearly got wiped out 80 turns in. Hell, two of the other Civs have already been wiped out. Actually lost my capital, but managed to retake it. If it weren't for the ability to levy military from suzerain city-states, I would have been screwed. I'm debating whether to cut my losses, or try and come back. I'll probably ride it out, just so I'll know what I'm doing next time. 170 hours of Civ 5 experience doesn't count for as much as I thought.

It bugs me that there's no Diplomacy victory (yet).
