So is the next actual Rifftrax release not going to be until March then?

Don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised. The Film Crew stuff is new to me (three of them anyway), so that's just as good in my book. Actually it's nice change of pace. These were recorded so long ago that the references and running jokes are completely different from what we're used to now. Plus, Host Segments! Oh how I missed you. With Rifftrax, we rarely even get the intros anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Rifftrax crew weren't taking a little time to get the latest MST3K crew up to speed, which would explain the release of older material as of late.  8)

I don't know where else to put this. I looked around the board. I hate when people post things that everyone already knows. So I hope I am not doing that.

What is going on? We get 1 major movie a riff a year. That sucks. We used to at least get a few VODs a month. Now we get The Film Crew? Guys, your fans have seen that. We are the fans who find everything you do. Rifftrax 2016 February was $40 for The Film Crew?

Please tell me you got more coming. That this is a transition to something bigger. I would love that. But the Rifftrax output has been shrinking--not the quality-the output. And February is cold enough without re-runs from over a decade ago.

And in case anyone doesn't understand, I own all of the rifftrax, and dvds of MST3K... I love this stuff. I want more. But I don't like how vague everything seems to be around here. HP2 may come out when hopefully it... look if you don't want to do it don't. That sucks, I loved those riffs. I think some the best riffing these guys have ever done was on those blockbuster series. I get that they are redundant. I get they don't make as much money. So we're back to bad movies, but at least they're from the 80s and 90s so its a not a total devolution to MST3K but... Now we have the film crew.

Please feel free to announce something awesome in March and take this post and wave it around and scream SEE DUMMY TRUST US.

I would love nothing more. And I do trust you guys. I trust what you say. So where is your 2016 State of the Nation?

Maybe here in the feedback section..

BUT I don't know if it will get seen by the 'powers that be' so you could always send an email directly to them at support@rifftrax.com and you will probably get a response. 8)

Let me preface this by saying that, while I'm a Moderator, I'm not one of the ones that gets to know anything, so most of this is speculation on my part:

It has been an especially slow year. Here's what we know:

The Blockbuster riffs slowed down because not nearly as many people buy them as they do the VoDs. Like- a hugely significant number if we're judging based on what they've been making.

HOWEVER - they are still working on the Rifftrax App, which allows the MP3 riffs to automagically sync with movies you're watching. This could make blockbuster riffs WAY more popular. I would speculate that the fall of Blockbuster riffs is timed pretty closely with the fall of the video rental (And slow decline of physical media in general.) The problem with streaming is ANYTHING could happen to suddenly cause a moment or two of buffering, so MP3s weren't working out as well as they used to. The app fixes that.

As for Harry Potter, they've said things that indicate that the riff is already in the can and ready to go, but they want to release it along the fully-formed Rifftrax App. It's not a matter of not wanting to. It's a matter of waiting for just the right time.

Historically, big lulls like this are followed by longer periods of rapid-fire releases. OR when they've been working on live shows. And isn't this usually about the time of year when we hear about the live show Kickstarter?

EDIT: Oh yeah! And Samurai Cop should be coming out soon. Don't know what's taking that one so long, but it should be glorious!

I'll bet those Golden Tickets make the chocolate taste terrible.

BathTub

Yeah it can be frustrating that we know stuff is ready, but being held back for some reason.

So the rest of us are going to have to wait for...what, the full roll out of the app?

BathTub

Nah, if they didn't wait for that to release it to backer then just whatever the KS window was. I don't recall how long it was last time, probably not incredibly long.

Watched this one last night and since there's not a child board created for this one yet (HINT-HINT), it seemed that this riff wasn't as funny; almost like they were 'forced' to do this one and though it had some funny lines, it just seemed off to me for some reason :-\
I'll re-watch it again and maybe my opinion will change..

The company was given the first three weeks of February off to recharge from how crazy 2015 was. That's why there has been MST and Film Crew stuff. Regular business to resume soon - the machine is back up and running, it just takes a little for everything to move.

We have a full length VOD for every week in March (Starting next week), as well as MST Monday - and more stuff going on too.
Any issues with the RiffTrax main page should be directed to support@rifftrax.com Attempts to engage with me directly about such matters will result in ridicule.
