Is there such a thing as "too awful to riff"?

While I haven't seen it yet, I'm kind of surprised at the attitude of the people complaining about the movie being so bad - that's the best kind of riffing target.

Balloonland is amazing - an instant classic.

I've bought this one, and I can't wait till I get the chance to see it.

The thing about this movie is that it's bad in an extremely irritating way.

EDIT: I will add though that it's mainly the first half that's particularly hard to get through. Once they get out of the carnival, it's not quite AS bad.

Agreed. Rollergator reminded me of Poochie some of the time, he was that pointlessly annoying, in a very forced "we think you'll like this" kind of way.

TriffRax

I hope that the gator died on the way back to his home planet.

That's sort of how I thought of it, but not in a "referencing the Simpsons episode" sort of way. He seemed like the type of character the writers...., er, "writer", thought people would love and laugh at.  He makes wise-cracks, he sarcastic, he does "funny" impressions, he "raps,"  I sort of likened him to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  The creator saw them as wise-cracking, sarcastic and hip talking animals and thought he could replicate it with Rollergator.  Without realizing that the Turtles worked because they also were LIKABLE and had some personality and charm to them beyond wise-cracks and hip surfer-talk.

They also had personality beyond their main personality trope and a measure of "depth" to them *as much depth as a cartoon character can have, anyway.)    But he stripped the turtles of all of that and just made a wise-cracking, hip-talking, alligator and said "Genius!"

I'll confess to being slightly inebriated, but even so in the past I've rarely changed my mind when I watch a riff again later. So.
This is one of the funniest rifftrax ever. Going in my top five.

Agreed. The guys' break downs were hilarious.
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

OK, now I've seen it and you guys are NUTS. This was an instant classic!

Keep it up, Rifftrax!
FINE

Ditto. (Man, I miss that feature!)

I mean, the movie is a slog to get through and is utter garbage but the riffing on it really, really works wonders and it's really astounding how terrible a movie really can be.

Pak-Man

The thing to remember when faced with a Birdemic, or a The Room, or a Rollergator is that you are not watching Birdemic, The Room, or Rollergator. You're watching Rifftrax. The movies are just the canvas that they use to work their art. You might think at one point, "Oh WHY am I watching this movie?" and then you'll hear an awesome joke and you should remember, right then, "Oh yeah. I'm watching Rifftrax!" (Cue Theme Song)

Is that what that is? They make me miss so much of the dialogue in these great movies. :/

I would love if I could have a picture of each one of us from when you see the main character for the first time. I know mine would have had my mouth wide open in complete & utter disbelief...this collection of photos would be priceless.

Or one of those trailers for horror movies where it just shows audiences reacting to the movie.

Wait... this movie had a main character?

Someone is cruising to get their butt kicked later.
