Why aren't there any Avengers, Guardians or Ant-man? Because it was the 80's and we're not exactly following chronological comic continuity, Why does Magneto wear a weird looking coat thing? Because it was the 80's... in case you can't tell, I love the 80's.

I actually don't think he looks that bad. He's definitely a character that would be really easy to screw up. I think at this point it's more about how the character is written that will deturmine how threatening he is.

He looks like a mash up of a Goa"uld from Stargate and Ivan Ooze from the Power Rangers movie.  Im not digging it.

Apocalypse has a look that's really hard to transition to reality. His face is more robot-ape than human. There's just no way he was going to look comic-accurate, and that means fans have to get used to the look.

True. Did Drax and Ronan look anything like their comic book counterparts? I don't think they did and... big shock, nobody cared. All they did and should have done the whole time was care about the character. To that end I'm more worried how much we as the audience will see Apocalypse as a villain. Will he be as compelling as Magneto?

Ronan looks a lot closer to his comic look than Apocalypse. They could have at least tried.

Yeah, but was Ronan's character in the comics really boring? That's what killed him as a villain in the movie, not his look.

Ronan did suck as a villain but that is consistant with the majority of MCU villains. If Fox isnt going to try the little things like appearance are they going to even try to characterize him properly?

I think whatever you thought of him as the villain certainly didn't affect the quality of the movie. Guardians of the Galaxy was imo the best movie of 2014.

I agree, he was a minor problem in a movie that is great.

I like that they are taking the cues from the MCU that they can make him so outlandish. This is a character design from the same company that outright mocked yellow spandex not that long ago.
