Fever Lake
Feature film · 2015

In Fever Lake, A.C. Slater and The Other Corey™ are college kids, or possibly high school students, depending on what part of the film you’re watching.

With Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett

Well, Save my Bell and Lost my Boys, it's Mario Lopez and Corey Haim! And, as if those Tiger Beat heartthrobs weren't enough to pack the seats with screaming tween fans (and by seats, we mean living room couches, because this movie was straight to video) there's also Bo Hopkins playing a grizzled older cop! The ultimate dreamy triple threat!

In Fever Lake, A.C. Slater and The Other Corey™ are college kids, or possibly high school students, depending on what part of the film you're watching. They, a sex-crazed buddy, and some female teen-adults leave whatever kind of school it might be for a trip out to a cabin in an equally vague rural location, Fever Lake! Might it be the kind of cabin with a dark past that "nobody goes up to anymore"? Might it be a town full of locals suspicious of their big city student-ish ways, despite the fact the city kids and the locals all dress, speak, and look pretty much the same? Might sacred Indian ground be a factor? Might fevers come into play in any way at any point? The answer to all these questions is yes, except, weirdly, for that last one about fevers. Seriously, there's not a lot of "fever" stuff happening at Fever Lake.

It's the kind of good clean old-fashioned horror movie the whole family can enjoy. To quote/paraphrase/blatantly rip off Christopher Walken, "We've got a Fever Lake, and the only cure is more Mike, Kevin, and Bill!"

I thought this was going to be better than it was. Was it just me, or did it seem the guys weren't really into it, and it showed? There wasn't even a Kevin song. And I really love those...I suppose they all did what they could, given what they had to work with. The movie itself was predictably bad, and also a bit on the racist side. (And usually, I don't whine about shit like that.)

It could merely be I'm getting tired of '80s and '90s films. They seem to be doing a lot of those, lately.

So this movie has no nudity?  That's disappointing.
I'll still check it out, though, later in the week.

Or A.C.'s Slater.

Okay...I watched it again, and it was a bit better on second watching. But definitely not my favorite. It just didn't inspire a lot of laughs because the riffers seemed kind of depressed. It's possible to be in the mood for making these things more at some times than others, I suppose. I could see why they picked the title, what with the collection of dorks thrown together. Incidentally, I don't see anything attractive about any of them. My taste in 'heartthrobs' is completely different than the majority of '80s teens was.

I completely agree with you.

I agree - My wife and I really enjoyed this one!

I had a good time with this riff. The movie is really dragging most of the time, but I think they are able to make it worth it.

I love any riff that has a Tommy Wiseau The Room reference

It's a shame this movie has no nudity, because the three girls are pretty hot. I also wonder if the actresses even knew how chase this movie was going to be. The one woman does an oddly sexualized performance during the hide-and-go-seek game.

Well, naturally. The thing is, marijuana makes things that aren't funny a lot funnier. And even that didn't work on this one...
