Since I'm in Iowa with the earliest caucuses for presidential candidates,  even if they are still nearly a year away,  we are already getting political commercials on local stations and on cable stations.   The most regular ones I've seen are for Mit Romney on the republican side but just tonight I saw two ads for Gov. Richardson of New Mexico during a House rerun on USA network.
Obviously, these are to introduce us to some of the less familiar names among the candidates,  even if it does seem way too early for all this political garbage.

Anyway, the question is for other US members.   Have you started seeing these ads in your states yet or are you still being left alone?   I know I'll have a few to watch until this fall when we'll start to be swamped by them.  After the caucuses, they'll disappear for a while but then kick in again after the conventions.    It always seems like such a stupid way to piss away a ton of money to me.

In Utah on the Radio they have started Mit Romney commercials, but i think that is just because of how much he did for the 2002 Olympics and they want to remind everyone about that so that they can hopefully swing more votes. But i havent seen any TV commercials as of yet. ill let you know though if that changed if you really want me to

I'm in Illinois and haven't heard or seen anything yet.  But it's only a short time before every Tom, Dick and Harry are bashing each other and asking for your vote.  Hooray for politics.

"I'm John Johnson, and I have never kicked a puppy. As for my opponent, Robert Robertson, well, who am I to say?"

This message has been paid for by the committee to make Robert Robertson's children cry.

"My opponent, John Johnson, would have you believe that he has never kicked a puppy.  He would have you believe he's never petted a puppy.  He'd have you believe he's never even seen a puppy.  Now tell me does John Johnson sound like a man to believe?"

Paid for by the committee of John Johnson's Puppy Propaganda Paradox.

Two days later, television is inundated with ads featuring John Johnson wearing Andy Richter's puppy suit:

Robert Robertson's retort: Fur is Murder, John Johnson.  It doesn't matter how you wear it.  When I am elected president, I will pass strict anti-puppy coat laws.

Robert Robertson Pledges To Outlaw Puppies

Paid for by the committee to elect John Johnson and save puppies.

With some minor punctuation editing...

Robert Robertson Pledges To Out L.A. w/ Puppies
That's right, presidential candidate Robert Robertson has donated hundreds of puppies to the Los Angeles area in an effort to clean up and out the homeless probelm that has flooded L.A.'s streets.  Consider this while at the polls.

Paid for by the committee of English Majors For Robert Robertson

If I die, tell my wife "Hello."

Fry: "These are the candidates? They look like clones!"
Leela: "They are clones, but they vary slightly on a number of key issues."
