Just because people say a role is "Oscar Bait" (which I do not think Redmayne's performance is) doesn't mean that it didn't take a lot of acting chops to do it.

I say my boyfriend wins the Oscar.

Edit: Also how can his movie be Oscar bait, but Still Alice isn't?

I do admit to it being a very broad term that has about much meaning as insulting label as Hipster does in this day and age, and I will also freely admit to it being a very well done performance. I'll whine and pout if he wins, but more out of a matter of wishing someone else got it than believe he didn't deserve it.

My feelings on the whole issue I laid out in that post a month or so ago, so dunno what else I have to say. Continued best of luck to all the players left, because that's all there is to say at this point.

And there it is. I'll honestly admit to being a bit surprised, I thought Keaton would snag it.

Ah well, congrats to the dude.

And also to anais, who I imagine is very pleased right now :P

Best Actress was actually stacked this year.  It's a shame for the other nominees that Moore was in this year, any one of them could win in a weaker year.  Witherspoon and Cotilliard in particular were great.

Moore's this year appears to be one of those "Sorry we missed you all those other years" awards. But I actually haven't seen Still Alice yet, so I have no real comment as to her performance.

That said, Rosamund Pike's name should've been carved on that statue for the past four months, so I still call it an upset.

alright, has best picture come up yet?.

I definitely don't think it was a make up win.  She was fantastic and heart breaking in Still Alice.  Still, the fact that she was "due" probably didn't hurt either.  I loved Pike too.  Felicity Jones is the weakest link in that line up and she was very good too.

And there goes Birdman. Should've seen it coming when it got Director. I guess all that Boyhood backlash finally landed (Birdman's hasn't quite taken roost yet).

Not quite a win I agree with, but simultaneously, a win I can't much fault. Well done, Birdman. I'm glad you finally got that thing I sent you.

I haven't seen all of them yet, but this is by far the best Oscar tweet I've seen so far:
@billcorbett
J.K. Simmons involuntarily started yelling at the Birdman soundtrack #RifftraxOscar

Could've done without the green card joke from Sean Penn.  It kind of sucks that he's such a good actor, because he's a giant asshole.

I wish Boyhood would've won at least Director, but Birdman is a good alternate choice I guess.  Linklater will get his eventually, I hope.

I am happy my boyfriend won. I understand why he couldn't thank me, what with his wife being there and all.

To be honest, I would have been very happy if Keaton had won. I hope Keaton gets more awesome projects, and I hope Redmayne has a super long career.

I was actually hoping Grand Budapest would sneak in there since it won so many awards throughout the night, but I am pleased with Birdman.

All in all, a good night.

I hope this means Keaton will get to do Beetlejuice 2.

Regarding our previous conversation about putting the Oscars on a delay...

There is a nicely done site that has been doing it for 6 years.  http://2020awards.org/

They look at the movies from 20 years ago.  I like what they've done so far.
