The Dark Power
Feature film · 2015

Whip legend Lash LaRue battles four ancient Toltec zombie chiefs terrorizing college students who don't look a day over 32.

With Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett

Hollywood legend Lash LaRue returns to the silver screen in this thrilling tale of zombies, the occult, and stretching the definition of "Hollywood legend" as far as our lawyers will allow us! Lash LaRue, as you'll undoubtedly recall, was famous for being playing a cowboy that used a whip. In every movie he was in, he found a way to pick up a whip and crack it a few times. Cattle rustlers? Whip! Pistols at dawn? Whip! Bankrupt from loss of cattle because trying to stop cattle rustlers with just a whip is incredibly stupid? Whip! Dead from ignoring the pistols part of pistols at dawn and instead bringing a—Well, you get the idea.

Yes, Lash and his whip were inseparable. It's even claimed that he taught Harrison Ford how to use the bullwhip! Sadly for Lash, he was providing his "whip lessons" on the set of Regarding Henry, and was escorted off the lot by security after startling Harrison in the bathroom.

But that didn't stop Lash, and he's still flinging his whip around in The Dark Power. And it's a good thing too, because four ancient Toltec Indian chiefs have risen from the dead and are terrorizing a house full of college students who don't look a day over 32. Turns out that defiling their burial ground was a bad idea! Who knew?

Can Lash drive his Chrysler there with his blinker on the entire way before the students are picked off one by one? Join Mike, Kevin, and Bill for this RiffTrax to find out!

I am only ten minutes into this, and I'm pretty sure I am going to hate the fat greenshirted redneck guy even more than the evil cannibalistic villains. Whenever they show the hell up.

EDIT: Okay, the fat redneck guy is a little more sympathetic later in the movie. And the three douchbag guys who just crash the girls' house are easily even more loathesome.

And it took the evil cannabilistic villains 47 MINUTES in a 77 minute movie to show up!

Wasn't there a wrestler in WCW named Lash LaRue?   :o

Seriously CARPETED BATHROOM?! I know the 70s and 80s had some bad design choices, but that's fucking disgusting.

If it's one of those bathrooms where the sink/vanity is in one room and then behind a door is the toilet and the shower/bath I can see carpeting the vanity area. I've seen plenty of houses like that.  But carpeting the shower room?  That's just plain stupid and I really don't even know how that would work. Is the carpet waterproof? Is the padding under it waterproof?  If not isn't the carpet and padding at very high risk of growing mold, mildew and god knows what else?

Really, in all, that house was just a crummy design overall. Not a single attractive feature on the outside of it and baffling layout inside, plus, carpeted bathrooms.

Yeah, I couldn't wait for the douchebag guys to go get killed either, I too was surprised by how long it took for the "monsters" to show up in this movie.

The best riff was definitely Bill doing the Troll 2 "They're eating him" bit.
