I said this over in "The Arrow" thread, but DC should put the guys behind Arrow and The Flash in charge of all their movies and TV shows. They're the only ones actually playing ball on Marvel's level.

A know people who like Arrow, I watched most of the first season and just didn't like it. It's trying to be Nolan gritty while also Lois and Clarke cheesy, plus I think the guy playing Oliver is a terrible actor.

He's gotten better. And it feels like the moments of brevity play better now. I guess they nailed down the formula.

Well that's good to hear, it felt really jarring to go from the Daytime TV looking lawyer love interest stuff to the darker parts

They seem to be rushing things.  For some reason they think they have to catch up to Marvel so they are doing things completely backward to what Marvels successful formula has been.
Yeah! What the hell are they thinking... you know what? DC loses this round, let's just admit that to ourselves. "Man of Steel "was a huge bore, except for seeing Superman with his shirt off, although he was the hairiest Superman I ever saw in my friggen life. This disturbed me, I don't know why. I talked to many people about this, they think it's not a problem... I just always think of Superman as... NOT hairy... I don't know...

Anyways... Nolan did a coupla good Batman movies. That's what I got... goin' away from this...

No jokes... Jesus... that's one of the things that made Man of Steel such a crushing bore! No Jokes...

Although, I have to laugh about this... We were watching, Linda and I, and early on in the movie, because Linda asked me to switch it pretty quick... Superman, (Henry Cavill?) walks out of the water, or something. Anyway, he is shirtless and he is looking in a backyard for a shirt... Linda says, "Oh no, sweetheart you are fine the way you are... you don't need to cover up..." Soon as he did, she lost interest.

That reminds me of something I thought of when I watched Man of Steel in the theater. In the scene when he comes through the door of the burning oil rig to save the people. The image of him, shirtless and on fire is a striking one. But I was just wondering...what part of him is burning? Certainly not his skin. But not even his chest hair is flammable. He doesn't have black spots on him, so it's not the crude oil.

The remainder of his clothes, petrol, etc, etc or it's just as likely because it looked dramatic and cool.

It doesn't mention it in the article, but I wonder if the success of the TV show is part of that too. And I still don't get DC's decision to separate their TV and movie franchises, there is bound to be some confusion there.

Yeah, or maybe they have anticipated how difficult it is to tie them together as Marvel has apparently found it to be?

I wonder how lay-people will find it when they go to see The Flash, if they know the show?
FINE

Yeah, I understand that's what people want to happen, but this might be one case where DC wisely decided not to ape Marvel.  DC movies have enough trouble without having a mess of continuity (and probably ruining the charm of the Flash with the complete un-charm of Zack Snyder and David Goyer.

I thought Suicide Squad would be a generally well received movie that wasn't for me (like Deadpool), but man, the reviews are savage!
