Writing riffs

I'm the guest riff writer for Anaconda.  I just realized something: Riffing is  HARD! 

Anaconda crushes Voight: "By this time, my lungs were aching for air!"  REJECTED!
Anaconda appears for first time: "Hi, I'm Satan. Enjoy the film."  REJECTED!
Joey, The lemur Don't even go there!

Actually, the rejected jokes were stuff they have already thought of. 
Ar first, I felt disappointed.
Then I felt happy, because I am at least on the right track...just slow.
Then I felt disappointed again, because I realized I was choosing obvious jokes.
Then I felt happy again, because I realized, "Hey, they are pros, and they thought of obvious jokes." 
Then I felt sad, because I realized my mood swings indicate manic depression.

So, I'm off to the local psych ward.

I had no idea that insecurity was an integral part of the creative process.  But, I do believe you're correct  I revamped  my jokes and emailed them to the contact person.  I should get a reply sometime this week. Keeping fingers crossed...and off to watch R.O.T.O.R.

If you don't feel insecure at some point during the writing process, then you were being lazy.  It comes along with digging deep.
