I havent seen it. But somebody was going to start a Thought thread sooner or latter.

I think I'm going to wait on this. After Cocktail, I don't think I'll be able to take another Tom Cruise movie for a while. I don't think Top Gun could be as bad as Cocktail was, but still...another Cruise flick would be too much for me right now.
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

okay, i guess i'm the first to comment....been looking forward to this one.  i'm 15 minutes in and i'm suprised to find Mike and Bill being a little more quiet in the beginning than i hoped they would.  anyone agree?  i'm hoping it picks up.  i'm sure it will.

I really liked it.  The riffing between Mike and Bill during the Volleyball game was the highlight for me, as was the very non-pc riff from Bill when he, just as the subtitle appears: "Somewhere in the Indian Ocean", questions "Is that Woo-Woo Indians or dot-head Indians?"

I think it was probably a step up from the X-Men movie too, purely because Top Gun lends itself more easily to being riffed.

I hate to say this but I just didn't like this one. Guess it was the movie one long set up for Tom to mug and what not. A few moments got me, but on a whole this is my least fav of all the riffs mike/guest have done.

okay, i've watched it straight through and i can honestly say that the volleyball scene was one of the funniest moments i've seen on rifftrax so far......but as a whole, i'm sorry to say that i'm disappointed with this rifftrax.  there were alot of pauses in riffing at the beginning when i thought there should be riffing,  they just....paused, and i found myself snapping my fingers saying, "come on guys!  lets get to riffing!"  it picked up a little at the middle, but at the end there were more pauses.....this just wasn't a memorable rifftrax for me, i'm sorry to say.  some memorable lines, but not a memorable performance from Mike and Bill....i'm going to watch it again, of course, and maybe it will get better......

That rifftrax was all kinds of beautiful. They were easy and well paced on the gay and Scientology stuff, and their complete apathy and confusion during the air battle scenes (all 58843936 of them) which I shared was so great.

Reminded me of the MST3K where they were watching bugs fight over a piece of candy on the theater floor. MUCH more enjoyable to watch.

I give it an 8.5/10

I go for quality over quantity. Too many bad jokes and its like your listening to a little kid ramble off, trying to be funny... its not funny when he actually does say something funny.

That said I haven't seen this one, but debating if I should. I liked crossroads and roadhouse the most, STV and the fifth element the least. However, syncing seems to matter over if a joke is funny and crossroads and roadhouse are the best syncers I've seen (haven't seen XXX nor X-men). Should I get this one considering it'll probably cost 7 bucks total for the movie and the rifftrax?

ummm.... yes.  Unless you don't want to, then no, you shouldn't.  But even if you don't want to, you probably should.  So yes.

Maybe you should ask J Proof instead.  I'm sure he'll give you a better answer.

Weak, very weak. I was actually a disappinted with a rifftrax. It's probably more spars than X-Men but without the big guffaws. A smattering of chuckles for me here and there. Better than your average sitcom but still, with these guys I'm use to splitting a seem from laughing so hard and this, this was woefully lacking.

Hmm... a movie about a hard-headed lieutenant named Mitchell ... a guy who does things his own way regardless of the rules, often pissing off his superiors ... when he's not drinking lots of crappy American beer or making out with the blonde who gets inexplicably hung up on him ...

And not one hearty exclamation of "Mitchell!"?  Not even at the end, when his fighter rolls in triumphantly with the Mitchell family name prominently displayed?

Guess it was BYOM!

I haven't watched it yet...later tonight. But from what I've read, do you think its not so good because they did it so close to X-Men? Maybe they needed a longer break to get refreshed?

McThornbody

The riffing seemed forced to me. So it could have been the timeframe of doing Xmen and Top Gun back to back. But even in MST days there was always that one episode here and there that just sucked.

I disagree with the general notion of sukiness.  I enjoyed it, much more than crossroads or X men.  So fear not those who haven't seen it, there is still a good chance that you'll like it.
