The thing is after the TV shows, what is there left to explore with this franchise? I know they say reboot, but could be partially a sequel with the original cast, or new actors, same characters? If they are going to do anything with this again, I think I'd prefer they make a direct sequel to the original, and ignore the TV shows.

I am sure it'll be a complete reboot. But I would think they would incorporate some of the ideas from the TV show into it. I just hate that they are planning a trilogy from the get go. Which means the first movie probably won't feel like a whole movie into itself.

Not sure how I feel about this, the TV show was so much better than the movie, and they don't seem to be mentioning the TV show at all, only the movie.

I would say do a true reboot, start from scratch, and by that I mean new character names, so we don't compare them to the TV characters at all.

Also compress the origin part of the story way down, everyone going to see this is going to already know it, but since they are going to make it a trilogy I'd bet they will milk the origin so it take up even more time.

To make it a trilogy they are going to need more than just Ra as the bad guy, unless they make the worst possible trilogy: Movie 1 is getting the gate working, movie 2 is explore and meet the people and meet the bad guy at the end, movie 3 fight the bad guy.

To work as a trilogy and set up for sequels they really need to bring the system lords in, start the fight with Ra in the first movie, second one defeat Ra but the system lords enter as the new big bad, not sure what to do in the 3rd movie.  Saying it's going to be a trilogy is just a bad idea, even if they do a brilliant job and wrap things up nicely, it will still seem like a let down, we will be expecting more.  It's already a franchise, just reboot as one off movies, the Marvel movies are doing well that way.

They didnt really have anything at all to do with the series.  They will probably completely ignore it and doing something totally different.

Especially they've come across as being bitter about the incredible amount of success the series had. I doubt they take anything from the series.
