That doesn't even look like a real movie....

I know. At least the original movies were low-budget and easily ignored. The only way I'd ever see this is if Rifftrax would get its hands on it. I mean, we're talking absolute riffing gold here. Stupid premise and Nic Cage . . . a walk in the park.

Yet another shitty movie that church groups will bus people to and it might make it's budget back.

The only good thing that will come out of this will be the Diamanda Hagan review.

There, fixed that for you.

As a former theatre employee (and someone who pings between agnosticism and atheism), the occasional release geared towards religious groups was always a source of amusement to me. For example, the little old lady coming up to my managers and thanking them for showing Megiddo: Omega Code 2. Or maybe the silliness inherent in Fireproof, where Kirk Cameron insisted upon kissing his wife, and not the actress playing his wife, so they shot the scene with his wife in shadow. The kids coming to Beatdown - er, I mean - Passion of the Christ despite the fact that the film was very clearly R-rated. (Can't forget the teaser for the never-made sequel at the end, Revenge of the Christ.)

The fact that these companies are still pumping out this low-level crap and making millions off people's desires to see something that 'they know' is amusing, since making a good movie is completely secondary to getting The Word out.

Toyland Chairman

I've seen the previous three films, mainly because the villain is played by Gordon Currie from PUPPET MASTER 4 and 5. I think my dad owns all the books. I doubt any of those later ones will be adapted.

Eh, while I am sure the movie will be riffable, I think Rifftrax will avoid it would be controversial.

ManUnderMask

1) That trailer was crap.

2) Is that Marty McFly's mom?

3) At least Nic Cage will be entertaining, if nothing else.
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

Yeah I can't see Mike touching this, Maybe there's hope for a Rifftrax Presents!

I don't even know about that. If he went completely full-on nuts in this movie, it would be glorious. But otherwise I think he'll just be boring and collecting a paycheck.

Yeah, that was my fear, as well. Mike's made it clear in the past of his own evangelical beliefs, though he does seem fairly open-minded (aside from the devil-worship jokes in the HP films). Hopefully if we can't get a MKB out of this, maybe we can get a KBMJ (Kevin, Bill, Mary Jo) out of it. Well, that would be my preference, however pie-in-the-sky it is.

The Lurker

Anyone think Cage's head is a little bit off? Like it was photoshopped onto his body?

Darth Geek

His hair looks like it's trying to jump off and escape.

Darth Geek

Gee. Looks like it's bad. Never expected that.  ::)

Sounds like it's mainly boring bad, not crazy bad.

And surprisingly, it doesn't have the Anti-Christ in it at all. What? From the sounds of it, they are apparently adapting only the first part of the book (mainly the stuff on the airplane).

What amazes me the most about this is...why would you have Nicholas Cage in your rapture movie and not let him play the Anti-Christ?!

What I'd like to see is a spoof (it'd have to be a short or something) where the Rapture happens, and there's only about the thousand people or so that get taken up. So it really effects little.

Sideswipe

Does the IRS have Nicholas Cage over a barrel?  Is that why he made this movie?

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.
