We thought that the prune juice ad guy (from the Manos live show) and the reporter at the beginning of This Island Earth looked similar. Sure enough, it's the same actor! His name is Olan Soule.

If ever there was a name for leathery poor-man's Orville Redenbacher who loves prune-juice that's it.

Darth Geek

I remember recognizing the actor in the Prune Juice commercial. I knew I had seen him before.
Poor guy. I just imagine him right after the camera stops just running over to the nearest toilet and absolutely wrecking it, from drinking two full glasses of prune juice one right after another.

And Olan Soule sounds like somebody's Dungeons and Dragons character.

He reminds me of the bookworm from "Sniffles and the Bookworm":

"sniffles and the bookworm"

He was also the first person to voice Batman in an animated series.

Yeah, Batman? Not a good idea to have the Heimlich Maneuver performed on you if you're not actually choking.

Unless you're into that. But in that case you really need a safety word.

For most people, that's true, but Batman underwent months of extensive Heimlich training in the German countryside between his Ninja classes and returning to Gotham.

The League of Shadows are pros at Heimlich Maneuver defense training.

Probably also not good to do the Heimlich on someone who just downed two glasses of prune juice.  Especially wearing light shorts.
