QuoteHere it is! The ACTUAL Super-Classic and Super-Famous movie we're riffing.

One of the most beloved movies of all time is about to get the RiffTrax treatment. Our MP3 riff on the super-famous 1939 classic THE WIZARD OF OZ arrives Friday, January 17th! That's less than a week from today.

And now, I'm going to sit back and wait for Ronin to note that they've riffed another one of the films he's done and then see if Trout either squees or rages over this announcement.

Okay. Really did not see that one coming. I'll check my wallet.

Another one?  Did I forget them riffing one of my targets before?  I remember my ears perking up when they riffed "Pearl of the Orient" but it turned out to be a completely different short than the one I did.

But yeah, if anyone's curious enough to compare/contrast you can click on over here.

I like it when there are iriffs and regular riffs on the same movie.   It is fun when you see how the riffs are similar, and very different.

Just a hint to get the iRiff

This is really the first real "classic" since Casablanca, right?!  I reeeeally hope this sells well, so they might do MORE like these!
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

They did Jaws as well.

Feeling fairly indifferent at the moment, as Jaws and Casablanca do not rank high on my list of riffs. But I'll give anything they do a chance. I hope it's great.

Yeah, I can't say this one has me excited either. It's a good movie just not one I want to own on DVD because it isn't one I'd watch often enough to warrant the purchase.  I might borrow it from my folks, I think they got the BD of it when it came out a couple months ago.  I'll still get the MP3 as I want to support RT and especially the MP3 side of things but I was hoping for a riff on a bad movie or at least a cornier one that lends itself to needing riffed.  Not sure how well you can riff a 75 year old classic movie that's also a musical.

doggans

It's clear they have a fondness for this movie, since it was referenced in nearly every single episode of MST3K, so I'm excited to see what they do with this!

I hardly consider Jaws a classic in the same vein as Casablanca or The Wizard of Oz or Citizen Kane or Psycho... It's a fairly newer classic but not in the same boat (pun intended) as like, say, Gone With The Wind.
